Cuse/Pitt...where is the hate?

Both fan bases are united in hating on the Cult and the 'eers not each other.

RE: Pitt-Syracuse rivalry
Syracuse and Pitt fans tend to be relatively normal unlike the cultists at PSU and the crazies at WVU, so it's not as fun to hate on Syracuse. That said, we have such a shared history that I enjoy playing them every year as they're the only longtime rival we play on an annual basis anymore.

RE: Pitt-Syracuse rivalry
Oh that's right we're playing Syracuse this weekend...again.

To be truthful, I do look forward to this game. We know it'll come around every year. It's even close enough for me that one of these days I will hop in the car and go to the Dome for the game.

The article nails it, though. There's just no hate here. I like Syracuse. I'm glad they came along to the ACC with Pitt. The fact that we seem like pals, though, is exactly what keeps this from being a good rivalry. There's just no hate. And Texan's right - we spend all our time hating Penn State and WVU.

I'll have to say, though, if Syracuse can pull off an upset this week I'm not going to feel so friendly towards them. God willing that won't happen.

Correction: you came along with us to the ACC. I did a little research and I think the first time Syracuse University and the University of Pittsburgh played was in 1916.

RE: Pitt-Syracuse rivalry
Rivalries with a good foundation like this one can turn quickly. Pittsburghers saw this happen between the Pirates and Cubs this season. The two teams have played over 2,200 times (pirates 2nd most played team after Cardinals), but were never really good at the same time so it was pretty friendly.

All it took was the teams being good/competing for common goal & and a few big moments (Pirates taking 2 of 3 in Wrigley, Arietta on Sunday night Baseball and wild card game) and a couple of villains (Chris Coghlan and Joe Madden.)

This could happen between Pitt and Cuse. Maybe Narduzzi will be the villain. Penn State fans already don't like him very much.

Given that Narduzzi and Shafer are friends, I don't see a great hatred evolving here.

is strange a synonym for BAD since the refs at the game today were equally clueless to both teams.

Congrats Pitt. Your HC called a great game. As much as I hate the loss, the gutsy fake punt on the final drive is an instant classic.

Yeah, I've never had any problems with Syracuse. Good school, great history, normal fans, not a lot to hate or disrespect there.

There are so many SU alums working in the media that when they are good it can get a little bit over-the-top relative to when other schools have similar success. However, on the whole, nothing but respect.

RE: Pitt-Syracuse rivalry
FWIW, with this year's game, Pitt ties Penn St. as Syracuse's most frequently played opponent at 71 games. Syracuse is third on Pitt's list behind WVU and Penn St.
