Come on Marge. I know you enjoy being sarcastic, but just on eye test alone, the Coastal is much better. The Atlantic has Syracuse, Wake, BC -- all terrible. Everyone in the Coastal would beat all of them. Then there's NC State. Va Tech has already beaten them. Even GT has beaten FSU this year. The wins by the Atlantic over the Coastal this year: Clemson beat Miami and GT. FSU beat Miami. To this point, no other Atlantic team has beaten a Coastal team. However, a Coastal team has beaten one of the goliaths.

The Coastal isn't "much better" and never has been. What they have been is deeper, and as good because they are deeper. Let's not try to make it more than it is.

I don't think we were discussing "much" better, but just better. It's cyclical. Some years the Atlantic overall is better. Some years the Coastal overall is better. Recent years it's been slanted more towards the Atlantic because Clemson and FSU have been so dominant. Last year, Louisville was really good so that added a third good team. The Coastal last year was really just GT with a little Duke sprinkled in. This year if you put GT in the Atlantic, they might finish second when they are currently at the bottom in the Coastal. You are right, the Coastal tends to be deeper and that is greatly the case this year.

My bad. I thought the fact you said the Coastal was "much better" meant you thought they were "much better". IMO, it is harder to win the Coastal division in most years than it is to win the Atlantic. Not because it is better, but because in the Atlantic in most years you only have to beat one other team - Clemson or FSU - to win it.

But, bottom line, which division is better doesn't matter. We are all in the same conference. If it made more sense for the member schools to realign the divisions in a way that would make more of them happy, at the expense of having the divisions unbalanced strength-wise, I would have no problem with that. For the time being, I believe that the current alignment does as good a job at meeting the wishes of its members as any other. That just happens to result in as good a strength balance as you can get.

That's why I qualified it with the "eye test". Computers can say one thing and eyes say another.

BC generally only scores non offensive TD's or where their defense sets the offense up perfectly. Against Clemson 10 of the BC points came following interceptions that gave BC the ball on the Tigers side of the field. The other TD was near garbage time.

BC scored 14 against UofL last week but those TD's came on a special teams blocked punt TD and a UofL fumble that gave the BC offense 1st and goal at the UofL six yard line. The Eagles had nothing close to a legit length of the field scoring drive.

I'm glad that the Canes don't play NC State this year. That one could have been ugly. We'll see how the Duke game goes but I have no expectations especially with Kaaya out.

And in typical GT fashion: the team gives you hope in that all will be well and then blows it.

You could win out but that 5 game streak should crush ALL hope for both your season and Johnson's ability to consistently win.

Glad my no watch policy is still in effect on GT football. I'm seen more than my fill on Goal Line. The Zima will be flowing in Hooville.

And as I said earlier on this board .... there is no reason to believe anything other than FSU came out flat and uninspired.
