Former Pope John star Moustapha Diagne is fitting in nicely at his new junior college home — and other colleges are starting to show interest in the former Syracuse commit.

Diagne, who is playing for Northwest Florida State College after eligibility issues kept him from attending Syracuse, is averaging seven points and 10 rebounds per game through the team's first two games, both convincing wins for the team that won the 2015 national junior college championship.

And as Diagne has flourished, more colleges have shown interest in him as a transfer. Pope John coach Jason Hasson told NJ Advance Media on Thursday that Diagne has reopened his recruitment — and while Syracuse is still in the picture, Pitt and Cincinnati are both "heavily" involved.

Hasson also tells NJ Advance Media that he expects Diagne to spend two years at Northwest Florida State before making the jump to Division I.

I've always wondered but never asked the question. If a guy starts his freshman year at a JuCo they typically stay for the standard two years but occasionally you will see them leave after one. If they are shown heavy interest from schools their first year what keeps them at the JuCo for the second year?

Grades usually....or lack of them.

Yep. Usually need the 2 year degree to transfer if they had to go JUCO because of grades.

If you are a non qualifier, you have to get your associates degree before you can move up to D1. This situation is a little different because we don't know if/how the NCAA ruled on the class in question from Senegal. If he is ever ruled a qualifier, he could potentially make the move to D1 in December...
