CAA Basketball
Strong showing around the conference tonight. Drexel the weak link down late to St. Joe's.

RE: CAA Basketball
Nice opening for the league. Several signature wins, Tribe over the Pack leading the way.

JMU dumps UR and Elon trashes Charlotte. Too bad Drexel came up a point short.

Then there's George Mason. Packed their bags, headed for the A10 big time and start this season losing their opener at home to Colgate. How the mighty have fallen.

It's early though looks like the CAA has a pretty nice line-up. Should be an interesting season, closing with some good basketball in Baltimore.

RE: CAA Basketball
Ok, here is the list of the games that are big ones in the OOC for the league. This doesn't count our win over NCST and JMU's over Richmond from last Friday.

11/16(tonight)- Elon at Michigan
11/16 JMU at West Virginia
11/19 Towson v. Oklahoma St(from Charleston SC)
11/20 Hofstra v. Florida St(US Virgin Islands)
11/20 Towson in their holiday tourney finals or consolation
11/21 Tribe at Dayton
11/21 Elon at Syracuse
11/21 Charleston at Davidson
11/27 Northeastern at Miami
11/27 Drexel in a holiday tourney
11/29 Delaware at Temple
11/30 LSU at Charleston(how?)
12/1 ODU at W&M
12/5 W&M at UVA
12/12 UNCW at Georgetown
12/15 Drexel at South Carolina
12/19 Michigan St at Northeastern(WOW!)
12/19 Delaware at Boston College
12/19 Penn St at Drexel
12/19 Charleston at Miami
12/22 Delaware at Villanova
12/22 Mount St Mary's at JMU
12/28 Elon at Duke
12/29 Northeastern at NC State

That is essentially the list....... 24 more big games plus some holiday tournaments. Would love to see the Tribe get into a Thanksgiving tourney one year and go on a run....

UNCW only has one big OOC game? Hawks fans must not like that.

Again, as we continue to beat that dead horse, it IS possible for a CAA team to land a marquee home game from time. It happens almost every year. Didn't UVA to to Harrisonburg last year?

I still for the life of me can't figure out why it seems to be so complicated for us.

Anyway, go CAA in the OOC! I would love to boost the conference rpi. We've started off right.

I didn't see any others, but perhaps my list is subjective. Someone will be along any minute to add a game or two to the list.

I compiled the list in 15 minutes on the weekend, just didn't have time to post it.

Elon down 10 at half.
JMU down 6 late in the half at West Virginia. Both still in it.

No, I just checked. G'town is their only impressive OOC opponent.

OT: GW is beating #6 UVA.

Just to provide some insight:

1. Last year Keatts decided to close out as many outstanding contracts as possible. So this schedule was more or less "starting from scratch."

2. We are headed to Louisville for a tournament they're hosting (like we did last year), but UL isn't facing us. The 2 other teams headed there are from the same conference.

3. While it is indeed possible to get good teams to come to CAA buildings from time to time, it has definitely been a big challenge for us every year, which Keatts reiterated. We wanted more home games than last year and that required a few less than desirable games.

That being said, the EKU team we beat tonight isn't exactly terrible. 3 straight 20-win seasons heading into 2015-16.

It's super early, but for your enjoyment, the CAA is currently ranked #1 by Warren Nolan (both in RPI and NPI): http://warrennolan.com/basketball/2016/conferencerpi

And the Tribe is ranked #1 in the Nolan Power Index: http://warrennolan.com/basketball/2016/npi

This is Mount St Mary's out of the NEC, not Saint Mary's College out of the WCC. Big difference there. It would be awesome to be able to get Saint Mary's here though.

Ha ha ha...that wasn't my intention, just found it odd that they managed on standout OOC opponent. Wasn't smack, either.

Mount St. Mary's is coached by former Tribe assistant Jamion Christian who was the lead guy on Marcus Thornton at Bishop McNamara. He obviously indirectly contributed a great deal to the Tribe's success during Thornton's fantastic college career.

You should know...

We always troll. And only drop fact based smack when absolutely necessary.

04-cheers

I'm also a WM season ticket holder now. Won't be hard to find me. I'll be the only one in UNCW gear all season.
