Meanwhile... https://www.washingtonpost.com/news/earl...ea1db12931

Yet according to numbers recently released by the NCAA, attendance at games played by FBS teams as a whole also dropped 3 percent in 2017, from 43,612 in 2016 to 42,203 this past season. As told by Dennis Dodd of CBS Sports, it’s college football’s largest per-game attendance drop in 34 years and second-largest decrease ever, behind only 1982-83. For the first time in history, Dodd notes, college football attendance has now declined in four straight years.

And, this is with using the definition of "attendance" as tickets sold (or accounted for), not buttocks through turnstiles.

RE: NCAA uniform rules
I immediately thought of Aaron Stinnie when this dumb rule was unveiled. Who cares if a guy's belly is out? I suppose it's in an effort to cover it with padding to reduce injury...

I’m gonna miss the exposed O-line guts. Thought those were hilariously awesome for us the last few seasons.

RE: NCAA uniform rules
There probably wouldn't be new rules without some guys taken it to extremes:

RE: NCAA uniform rules
I'd rather they left knees and guts be exposed and got rid of the 50 million uniform combos a lot of teams have, and say teams are limited to something like 2-3 different pants, jerseys & helmets during the season.

RE: NCAA uniform rules
Didn't during the 1970s & prior they wore longer, looser jersey's in college football that tucked in?
I remember during the 1980s- to mid/late 90s they had the old shorter, mesh jersey's with the t shirts underneath or stomachs exposed.
Didn't during the late 1990s for around 12-15 years or so they have a rule that jersey's had to be tucked in/no exposed stomachs?
I thought that rule went away the last 1/2 doz years or so..

It seems like it has evolved from stomachs covered, to stomachs not covered, to stomachs covered, to stomachs not covered, to stomachs covered..

Stomachs exposed was a big thing back in the 70's and 80's.

They finally got around to outlawing the tear-away jerseys - primarily worn by running backs and running QB's in option offenses which were prevalent in those days. Guys like Earl Campbell, George Rogers and Herschel Walker were bulls to tackle as-is, but trying to tackle them by grabbing hold of their jersey was useless (and at times rather humorous).

RE: NCAA uniform rules
The only change in rules this year is knee pads covering the knees. The rest have been in place for at least 10 years. It's just not always strictly enforced. I imagine the officials don't like to be uniform police.

They are being even more ridiculous than the NFL. Talk about micromanagement! And as always, micromanaging the wrong stuff. *eyeroll*
