Louisiana Tech hires Stephen F. Austin’s Ivey to be AD
SFA AD of six years Ryan Ivey is being hired by LaTech to lead their department, per Pete Thamel.

I think Ivey will kill it in Ruston. He received rave reviews from our little brothers in the northern Piney Woods. Lumberjack fans were constantly praising his ability to be personable with fans. SFA football and improved dramatically under his watch. He helped open their gorgeous $20M+ basketball performance center that Bearkat fans are pretty damn envious of. He hired and extended a couple of notable coaches during his time there. This is a blow for Stephen F. Austin.

What do LaTech fans think of this hire? Does this spell trouble for Cumbie if the Bulldogs don’t immediately see drastically different results?

I can't find anything online to verify this.

I just saw Thamel's tweet. I guess it's not official yet.

Cumbie is on the way out after on more year anyway--according to many Tech posters.

Sounds like a good hire.

At 9:55 his bio was unavailable on their site--so something is going on.

So SFA's AD is leaving for Louisiana Tech and Tarleton's AD is retiring to be replaced by the assistant AD at West Virginia. Two programs going in different directions. Actually, three programs going in different directions.

Our last two ADs were total duds, busts, do-nothings...so I for one harbor zero confidence in this new guy. Hopefully he'll turn out to be a pleasant surprise. One thing for sure, there is a lot of low-hanging fruit that a new AD can harvest and start off right. We'll see.
