Imagine, Episode IX opening with Luke Skywalker asleep on his hill, and Rey comes in and wakes him up for her next Jedi lesson. Cut to Leia being blown away in space
and staying dead. Pick up Episode IX from there.
Sure, some damage to Luke's character, but then he recovers from the B.S. Rian Johnson version of Luke and returns to be the the Luke we all know and love from all the earlier episodes. Luke then trains Poe to be the Rebel leader; Poe falls in love with Rey, and they become the new SW "it" couple; Finn and Rose drop out like he wanted to in TFA, and go off to some planet to chill out together; Rey meets Obi-wan who tells her she's really Ben Solo's sister; General Hux gets caught oogling old pre-chrome suit Phasma pics and Snoke banishes him from the First Order; Snoke and Rey fight, but Ben Solo aka Kylo Ren saves her by cutting off Snoke's hand and they escape...leaving Snoke to prepare for a final assault on the Resistance...in
Episode X (see, Dizknee, there is profit in fixing the mess of Episoode 8). So Episode IX becomes a redo of Episode 8, done the right way. Hey, something like that would make me enthusiastic again.
