RE: MLB Offseason Thread
Mets, Cubs, Dbacks, Giants and Pirates all look really strong next year. Cardinals, Nats and Dodgers aren't too shabby. There is a lot of talent in the NL.

Meh, it's very close. I'll take Lester over Cueto, Lackey over Peavy and Hammel over Shark. We probably disagree on Lester and Cueto.

it all depends on what Cueto. Cueto's career numbers in the NL are better than Lester. As are Shark's over Hammel.

Cueto is nearly unhittable when he's on. He was a huge difference maker for the Royals. His ceiling is definitely higher than Lester's, though his floor is also lower. Just depends what you're looking for.

RE: MLB Offseason Thread
Having watched Shark for several years, there really isn't a point in discussing #4 starters. Shark has better stuff, but he hasn't been very good absent Chris Bosio's instruction. He's younger, and has a better arm, I agree. But, I think Hammel will be really good the first half of season, as he has been the past two seasons. He wasn't the same after hurting his hamstring this year, but I don't think Chicago enters the playoffs counting on a Hammel post season start. I really feel like they'll upgrade their rotation at the trade deadline.

Fun to discuss, though.

I don't think they want to rely on Hammel or Hendricks. Both of those guys are expendable and probably won't finish next season as Cubs.

#Dodgers get Frankie Montas, Michah Johnson, Trayce Thompson
#Reds get Jose Peraza, Scott Schebler, Brandon Dixon.
#White Sox get Frazier

Reds are in full rebuild mode. Votto won't see many pitches to hit next year.

Yadier Molina also having second surgery on his thumb. I've watched the Cards enough to know that you count count them out, but they have some serious questions heading into next year.

That sucks. I had a pipe dream scenario where the Mets acquired Todd Frazier, getting rid of Duda in the process, and moving David Wright to 1B.

Cubs signed Dexter Fowler today for half of his QO m & only 3 mil more than Coghlan was making. The Cubs are deep!

Interesting! Fowler is very good but I suppose maybe teams were reluctant to give up a 1st rounder for him? Good news for the Cubs either way.

Kyle Schwarber with an awful looking injury last night. Initial reports are that the x-rays were negative and he's having an MRI today. They reported an ankle sprain, but I won't believe that's all there is until the MRI confirms there isn't structural damage. At full speed I couldn't tell if his leg was planted, but the photo looked gruesome.

Hoping for the best for Kyle and Chicago. Kid can mash.

Tough break for him. Sorry to hear that.

That certainly sucks. I'm still bummed about this year since the old caazone league that has been going on for like a decade was not renewed this year. Thankfully on my 2 teams neither had him.
