Agree with all of those, getting to six wins was a HUGE deal. By the way, Martin is a double RS (one medical) Junior, so he is pretty dang old.

RE: That Was The Year That Was
I suppose this is a chance to thank all the seniors at TU who have helped turn around the program and that isn't just the starters or the "All" candidates we hear so much of, but those wonderful kids who worked, sweat, bled, and sacrificed for our school. So let me take this opportunity to give all our seniors the praise they deserve for getting TU back on track and back in a bowl - its 20th.

THANK YOU!!!

Good luck in your future endeavors. And GO TU!

Blake Abbott
Derrick Alexander
Zik Asiegbu
Josh Bencke
Joseph Calcagni
Mandel Dixon
Conner Floyd
Keyarris Garrett
Rey Higuera
Billy Lafortune
Zack Langer
Derrick Leutjen
Sulieman Masumbuko
Michael Mudoh
Chris Showels
Garrett Stafford
Brad Valentino
Darrell Williams Jr

Also all the support personel in the athletic dept - managers, trainers, equipment, video, as well as our wonderful cheer squad and yes, the band as well. TU wouldn't be the great school it is without you. Thank You!

RE: That Was The Year That Was
OU will be in the final four teams who will compete for the National Championship for 2015. TU played OU on September 19 and lost by 2 TD's in Norman, Ok - by a 52-38 score (14 pts).

So how many teams on the OU schedule got beat worse than TU?

Answer is 7.

Akron ------- 41-3 (38pts)
West Va------44-24 (20pts)
K State-------55-0 (55pts)
T Tech -------63-27 (36pts)
Kansas -------62-7 (55pts)
I State -------52-16 (36pts)
OSU-----------58-23 (35pts)

Good luck to the Sooners!

OSU-----------58-23 (35pts)

Does this mean we can claim to be the 2nd best team in Oklahoma this year??? 02-13-banana

I know OSU is probably better in a head-to-head match, but I'll take what I can get.

RE: That Was The Year That Was
I think playing OU like we did and them not rolling us was a factor in our Bowl game invitation to the Independence along with our proximity to Shreveport and our bowl history in that region of the country.

About OSU. When they were in the old MVC (as Oklahoma A@M), we mostly dominated them for decades in football even though they had the more well rounded programs overall - MBB, WBB, baseball, etc because of the larger enrollment. So given that, when both us and OSU were competing on the same level playing field, we were as good as them if not better. Conferences make a lot of difference in the scheme of things and today even moreso. That's why it is important to keep the AAC strong.

OSU's advantage is that its a state run school with a large state supported enrollment that academically will never be TU's equal. So the graduates at TU are near where their opportunities lie and the TU degree really means something. OSU not so much, and because of that, there is a lot of dislike and envy from them. Many of them even have to (basically) take a school bus to the campus, just like they did in high school. Sorry, couldn't resist! :)

RE: That Was The Year That Was
Phillip Montgomery, our FB coach came from the very good program at Baylor University down in Waco, Tx. Baylor, under Art Briles has become an elite FB team in the Big12 conference. So how tough was the FB schedule Baylor played compared to TU? Let's compare it this way, this time.

How many bowl teams did Baylor play this year? Answer: 6 (OU, OSU, Texas Tech, West Virginia, KSU, TCU).

How many bowl teams did TU play this year? Answer: 6 (New Mexico, OU, Houston, Memphis, Cincinnati, Navy).
