ACC rising??
I really think the influx of coaches will really improve the conference over the next few years....
Clemson and FSU are top 10 every year. FSU is a juggernaut, and Dabo has Clemson headed that way
North Carolina is surprisingly coming along pretty well, and they have an excellent coaching staff
I think Richt will put Miami back on the map, and boost recruiting
I also like Bronco Mendenhall at Virginia....I think they have a chance to make a jump
Louisville is only getting better as well. I think the ACC is going to be a strong conference in the near future

RE: ACC rising??
FSU wasn't a juggernaut most of the last decade. They had some really good recent seasons with two NFL QBs. FSU will have to break in a new QB next year.
Clemson is 7-6 against FSU the past 13 years and should be favored to win next year. For a FSU fan to say Clemson is just recently heading in the right direction is a bit silly. We have been competing with your juggernaut for 13 years.

RE: ACC rising??
Clemson signed a 4 star QB after the 5 star QB earlier this week. Recruited two highly ranked QBs last year. Also have one of the top ranked RBs in the country coming in, Feaster, and also the top player out of NC on defense (forget his exact position).
Clemson is going to be losing a lot on defense it looks like with some guys leaving early for NFL.
Is Justin Thomas for G Tech coming back next year? I believe several ACC teams are going to be breaking in new QBs including UNC and NC State.

Let's not get carried away. Clemson has been a consistent Top 25 team in recent years. But they have been Top 10 only twice in the last 25 years. The ACC has had a good record, and is getting better. We don't need to exaggerate.

I agree I think the ACC upgraded it's coaching tree at multiple schools, all the while the $ec east downgraded their coaching fraternity.
The future of this Conference is beginning to be Very Bright!!! ...and if Clemson wins it all we will HOLD ALL THE CHAMPIONSHIP Trophies that matter.
FLossY Out...

RE: ACC rising??
ACC football will rise roughly the same amount that SEC and AAC football falls (those being two of the biggest non-conference opponents).

Virginia Tech has the most ACC titles since realignment and i believe they've been to 1 or 2 other ACC title games.
every program has some down years but no reason to act like the conference only has 2 viable programs.
FSU isn't an elite team every season.

RE: ACC rising??
The ACC has been a sleeping giant for many years. Everyone was waiting for the breakthrough. The last three years have shown the giant is starting to open one eye. FSU and Clemson have done their part. The ACC needs consistency out of the other programs. GT was good last year and sucked this year. UNC was mediocre last year but very good this year. The ACC has made significant coaching upgrades so now we get to see if coaching was truly the problem all those years.

RE: ACC rising??
ACC doesn't need that mmuch consistency, just tprograms like NC State have a really good season now and then, similar to how they were really good with Philip Rivers. It is not like SEC programs like Miss State and Ole miss are powerhouse programs every year.
Conferences typically have max 3 really good teams, then a bunch of medicore teams, and then 2 or 3 really bad teams.
If UNC sucks next year but NC State is 11-2, to go along with Clemson and FSU, then UNC's lack of consistency isn't a problem.

Lack of consistency shows issues with the coaching staff which is not good for the conference overall. The ACC absolutely needs more teams to step up. Otherwise, the perception never changes.

The ACC needs other teams to be dominant....they need to be deeper at the top
North Carolina, Miami, Louisville, and Virginia are all great candidates to start making impacts on the college football world

The problem with VT was that they weren't dominant in the '00s....they sort of peaked out with Vick and slowly went down. They would win the ACC, but then go lose to Michigan and Kansas...they weren't ever really in the NC hunt. ACC was out of the NC hunt for the entire '00s

RE: ACC rising??
I tjink Lousville, Va Tech, MIami , G Tech, BC are already viable programs. BC had a legit defense this year but didn't have a QB, they would have been in top 25 with a QB. it is no realistic to think programs should be consistently great. It is a cyclic thing. Alabama wasn't doing anything prior to Saban. had lost 7 straight to Auburn.
I pointed out Va Tech winning 4 ACC titles to point out the tunnel vision, where people focus on just the past 2-3 years;. FSU is unbelievable but Va Tech doesn't even get mentioned. FSU had 6 or 7 years where they were mediocre to bad but that basiaclly got shoved down the memory hole.

The problem with Syracuse is that you've got Louisville, FSU, and Clemson every year....tough to gain traction

RE: ACC rising??
if FSU wants other ACC teams to step up their game, stop reruiting players in NC, VA and elsewhere.
cracks me up FSU ppl complain about the conference but their recruiting out of state and getting much of the Florida talent has a lot to do with other ACC schools not being as good.

FSU was mediocre but they were never bad....Bowden had a win over Saban going out
Winning the NC along with Florida and Miami dipping was huge for the Noles....they are surging right now with Jimbo
As for Georgia Tech, they're always going to be dependent on Paul Johnson's offensive system. Either it is clicking like last year, or it's not, like this year...
Boston College has had too many coaching changes....they were on top of the world with Matt Ryan, but they've come back to earth.
