why make the comment, "within a week"
we need to find the right guy and have someone telling the recruits that we will hire someone to fit their skills.....
goddddamit at stupid presser shite.....
I was encouraged by the "within a week" comment. it leads me to hope that he already has a plan in mind.
maybe he knew thingys.....however, and if not, in no way do I endorse that in concept as acceptable.....(if he did, he would've already been rubbing that genie out of the bottle)

Any heat on McGillis? He seems to be pretty unpopular, and has made some boneheaded moves there.
I don't know what boneheaded moves he has made, but I think he's done a very good job here. People were expecting him to perform miracles and that's just not possible. He hired Doc Sadler, who has been a disaster but our basketball program is a dumpster fire right now and we had to get someone to hold it together a few years. If McGillis f***s this hire up though, he'll be gone in a flash.

which is knee jerk unless it is internal....

I imagine David Duggan, Chip Lindsey, and Blake Anderson will get a good look. I would be happy with any of those. We should be able to keep most of our staff in place.
Who is OSU's OC?
Anderson has a pretty steep buyout at Arky State, they got tired of losing coaches every year so they did a good job on his contract.

But if true, at least until after Feb 3rd, it could really be huge in keeping the recruiting class together.
So now we've lost our head coach to the NFL, our OC to Arizona St as OC, and a defensive position coach to UTSA as DC. Looks like we're getting a whole new staff regardless.

Butt hurt much. You keep beating that dead horse. I respect Bower immensely but it was time for him to go. The program has had two 9+ win seasons in 8 seasons since he left. We had 4 during his 17 seasons. We're slightly ahead of Bower's pace. Plus, we had a 12-win season in the last five. We never won more than nine under Bower.

Guess what, Bower won 9 games in his next to last season. I will stand behind my belief that the way USM treated Bower set up all the disasters that have happened since. I don't care or even expect any others to share that belief, but it is what I truly believe. Karma is a b#tch.

Wow! What a classless move by Monken.
Tech should make a huge push again for Dantzler. He tweeted this morning how much it meant for him to be hosted at Coach Monken's home. Talked about what a real person Monken was. He is gone like most of the other recruits. USM set themselves up for all of this garbage when they fired Bower. Traded a great, loyal coach for this crap.
Are you Bower's father?

With all due respect, during Bower's 17 years how many of those were 11 game seasons with no CCG played as well as his early years when 4 home games were the norm and 5 was considered a bonus. Also he regularly had 3 SEC games on the schedule where we now we play 1. That comparison of 9 win seasons holds no relevance as far as I'm concerned.

I was told he applied for the ECU HC job and got reviewed by the search firm but did not get an interview with the AD (think he interviewed 7 in the first round). I wonder if Monken was just ready to move on or if he was just pursuing what he felt were good opportunities for him.
I was told he was offered the HC job at ECU and turned it down.

Well, we now know why Monken signed a ton of Junior College players.

The 4 names I've seen mentioned the most on my Twitter feed and in no particular order:
Dave Duggan - current DC
Chip Lindsey - OC this past season and current ASU OC
Oklahoma St OC - our last 3 successful HCs have had that previous title
Jay Hopson - FCS Alcorn St HC, former USM asst coach and DC, turned Alcorn St from a 2-3 win team into back to back SWAC champs. 4 years and they've gone 4-7, 9-3, 10-3, 9-3

We've had as much or more success since he left. Time moves on. People can't coach forever.

Winning 7 games with Jeff's schedule was like winning 10 with our schedule now.
