RE: Zac Woodfin
The defense was on the field the whole second half and for whatever reason we had an inordinate amount of injuries in that game. Generally speaking, we smoked other teams in the 4th quarter all season. On that day, we didn't.

Gotta compare them to the 2013 and 2014 teams. It was like night and day.

Either our guys were just bigger and stronger and whipping on your guys. Or your guys weren't conditioned well. It was the 13th game so it could've been a cumulative effect.

I had to look up our strength and conditioning guy. His name is Justin Lovett. We had very few injuries this year and as games went on we wore teams down. Part of that could just be we had better depth but I can't believe we have that much more depth than the rest of the conference.

Good for you guys for keeping one of the people you believe made you successful.

My one game snapshot, I'm glad we have our guy.

It's all part of him be a secret double agent for UAB.

not me I hope hopson is the second coming of eloss and they go 0-12. that way the entire staff gets fired and we can get Zac bac in 2017

I personally hope that the BOT shuts down UAB football for good this time and burns the entire team's jerseys at halftime of the first Bama game, but we don't all get what we want.

All the best to Zac.

Agree. I will be shocked if we keep him past these 2 years, but you never know. To tell you how much USM fans are in the know about what Zac did for the team last year, when our AD brought Zac up in front of the crowd at a signing function yesterday, he got a louder and longer cheer than our new coach when he got up in front of them. Here is video of that event announcing Zac's new contract. You can see in this video how our new coach is already giving Zac lots of attention.

His next stop is the NFL in three years IMHO. He has good connections there.

LOL at the idea that Steve Maples or Monken's original strength coach kept anyone from getting injured. Maples in particular couldn't even tie his own shoelaces without falling flat on his face.

Man o man, this guy was a total joke. I remember a player's father saying that early on during his short stint with us, Maples told the team, "You don't need to stretch. Does a cheetah stretch before it runs down its prey? Stretching is for p*ssies."

Ah, the memories.

The following is from a friend who worked at USM when Maples was hired:

My favorite was his thought on stretching. A fox doesnt stretch before he chases a rabbit. The only thing you boys need to be stretching are Pu$$$$$$$$y's

It still amazes me that the guy hired Tommy West, Steve Buckley, and Steve Maples to important positions on his staff.

Yeah... and I can think of another jaw-dropper, too. It was just arrogance. Ellis really thought he had football all figured out. Oh well, guess not.

Back when my son was 9 we were playing a dixie youth team from columbia who had a 8yr old with a trouble making parent.
Years later at a jr high basketball game Oak grove was at East Marion and i saw the school resource officer escort a lady out who turned out to be the same trouble making mom.

The minute i heard buckley was coming if Ellis got the job i openly predicted chaos. However in my wildest dreams i didn't think it would be as bad as it was.

You will never make me believe the story about Bustle and the drinking problem. We ran the spread in the spring game. Then suddenly the baseball draft happened and to keep the battery here we switched oc's and ran his exact same offense he ran in high school.
