Rice Baseball-- what more needs to be said?

Yet, no one really cares. Its baseball

If your team was good you might care. Disparaging a great sport just because you personally don't like it, or the team that you support is not good at it (don't know if that is true or not) is childish, which may explain why you possess the largest negative reputation in the history of message boards.

I know the "streak" will end sometime, and I hope it's USM that ends it....Seems only right, IMO.

Actually, I think Marshall does pretty well for not having a true "home" stadium. Appalachian Power Park is in Charleston and is home to the WV Power (a Milwaukee Brewer farm team). They also play out at the Kennedy Center which is owned by the Y friggin MCA... Worse than many high school fields around.

Marshall fans said the same thing about basketball for years and now all of sudden this year they care. It's weird how that works.

It's not that they don't care. It's the attitude of "Why do I want to pay a lot of money to watch really bad (insert sport)?" Many Marshall fans are extremely loyal and attend sporting events. But I think that Marshall has a rather large population of fickle fans (not necessarily on this board).

But I kind of have to give 'em a pass because not many people can/want to travel 60 miles to a home game. I think you would see more attendance/buzz about the baseball team the stadium were on or near campus. It certainly would generate more interest with the City if Huntington and Marshall got together to build up Harris Riverfront Park and put a stadium downtown...

I disagree, at least for USM, baseball is the second favorite sport on campus. There's nothing like the smell of the grass, crack of the bat, and a good cold drink in the Right Field Roost. It's my favorite time in the spring.

Agreed........Baseball is by far the 2nd most popular sport on campus. Baseball has outdrawn basketball on a yearly basis in tickets sold and butts in seats for at least the last 20 years.

ODU's schedule is regional and not especially sexy, though Virginia comes in for its annual game at the Triple-A park in town. No East Carolina this season, which is unusual.

UAB plays over 50% of its schedule at Regions Field, one block north of campus.

The rest of our games are played at Young Memorial Field, on the west side of our campus.

As far as practice facilities go, there's an indoor batting and pitching facility at Regions Field and permanent covered batting and pitching at Young Memorial.

We had a super regional here against LSU years ago. The only tv feed I got was out of Baton Rouge on my cable. Those announcers went on and on about how much more impressive 'downtown Houston' was than Baton Rouge. LOL

The Houston skyline is what makes your park special.

Except for the occasional late afternoon delay in one part of the spring when the sun's reflection off one of the towers blinds everyone on the west side of the facility.
