RE: BB Class of 2019
Does anyone subscribe to any of the recruiting services? Someone sent me a message this am that we are/were involved with another 2019 guy from South Africa, Austin Van Zyl i believe? Is this real? Other than someone else leaving or he goes walk on or 2020 we'd be tapped right now.

The 20-year old Van Zyl has played the last two seasons for A.S. Monaco U21 in France’s First Division, while obviously maintaining his NCAA eligibility.

In 2017-18 Van Zyl averaged 5.7 points, 2.3 rebounds, and 2.1 assists per game for A.S. Monaco. He shot 28.4 percent overall and 29.7 from long range.

This past season he averaged 6.1 points, 4.1 rebounds, and 2.8 assists while shooting the ball at a much worse clip. Van Zyl made just 18.1% of his shots overall, and 20.9% from three-point range.

Granted those 2018-19 stats he only played 9 games and missed the other 23 games with an injury. I feel like this was more of a back-up option in case Harvey didn't work out. He seems pretty pumped about the IU offer based on his twitter so safe to say I think he ends up there. He's an interesting prospect though, to say the least.

Yea, i've heard some really strong stuff about this kid, but my guess is they've had a pretty good idea Harvey was going to be here recently based on today's commitment. That's why i was curious to see it.

UC has stayed in contact with Van Zyl no offer too date.Interesting prospect as a 6'5 pg with very good handle. His shooting percentage isn't ideal but he was playing with international 3 pt line. Was injured most last season. Also seems like he does not have a offer from Indiana.Kid seems too be trying for a Euro pro contract.

Looks like we just extended an offer. This could get interesting...

Kid looks like he has a very good handle, but those shooting percentages are beyond abysmal, regardless of the level of competition. Would he be immediately eligible, because it looks like we're beginning to stockpile a lot of guards. Playing time might prove challenging. The comparisons to Steve Nash seem comical. One guy is in the Hall of Fame, the other-----well.

Apparently, the IU fan base is doing the same mental gymnastics as we are looking at their message boards. No one is sure if IU has offered or not.

IU 100% did not offer him. There is a thread on IUs 247 board that shot that one down. The guy is saying hes meeting with NBA guys to talk about going Pro? With those numbers? bull****. He doesnt have an offer here, or IU. He has 1 offer from Marshall. Hes trying to get his name out there, and in a way its working.

Yiiiiikes...hard pass on this kid if he's faking offers to drive interest like that. No one needs that kind of narcissist/egotist on a team.

Hahahahaha, that's amazing. Kid's going places. But I guess probably not UC or IU.

RE: BB Class of 2019
That's some shady stuff. Obviously Marshall isn't a basketball powerhouse, but that's not a terrible offer. Not sure why he feels he needs to lie to get noticed. Just take the full ride at Marshall and if you're good enough to get to the NBA, you can prove yourself there. Hell, Ja Morant was the #2 pick in the draft this year out of the Ohio Valley Conference, so it's not like you have to be at a high-major program to be a lottery pick.

Corryville Carl isn't aware of the offer, so I say that just about puts this one to bed.

He is definitely a scorer, but will need to be stronger and more athletic in college. His biggest issue is he plays defense like Bill Murray in Space Jam. Gonna be hard for him to get any playing time without an attitude adjustment on that end of the court.

In leui of recent events, this post seems even better today.

It would have been more Nostradamus-like if I would have added "an overall attitude adjustment because the kids seems is allof."

I'm waiting for the announcement that he's pulling a Darius Bazely and heading to the D League.

Quite a bit of chatter up north that Alonzo Gaffney may leave Osu. Be curious if Brannen pursues him.

Why on God's green Earth would DJ Carton leave? That's ridiculous given his role and the season he had...

Didn't Carton miss a number of games during the year for personal "issues"?
