I am interested in getting the feel from others as to how this past baseball season will effect interest and excitement around Tulane football? I suspect that the excitement created by the success of the baseball has created a need in some to feed the need for excitement. I think it will show in the early stages of the upcoming season. A little success on the football field will have a huge impact on rebuilding excitement and fan following.

I have encountered many Tulane fans since I returned from the CWS and I can assure you that interest in the Tulane athletic programs have increased, especially in the basketball program. The new Basketball coach was very visable at many of the baseball regular season games and all the regional contests as well. He also was present in Omaha and you can best believe all of us Tulane fans were very pleased to see him there.

I don't know what the football season will bring in regards to success, but season ticket sales are well below last season at this date. I renewed my tickets two days ago after stating that I would not do so in 2005 and it is solely in response to the great season the baseball team (I have four baseball season tickets for the past four seasons).

I'm sorry to hear that ticket sales are lagging. I expected better. In truth, I have not yet renewed mine, but I will.

I have heard a lot of people express the sentiment that, "if the baseball team can compete on a national level, why can't the football team?" I think the baseball team's success will ultimately put pressure on the university to raise the bar for the other teams, which, in my opinion, is a good thing.
Whether this will translate into building excitement for the upcoming football season, I don't know. My impression is that the fans are approaching this football season with cautious optimism, with the feeling that Scelfo needs to take this team to a bowl game, or else.
