/Starts history lesson...

The women are 2 time defending champs looking for the 3-peat. They have 13 national championships and 7 2nd place finishes…since 1982. So they are pretty darn good!

The mens's team doesn't have quite winning championship history recently but they do have a history of winning. They have 2 national championships (1973 &1975), 12 appearances in the final (UGH, 2 for 12 03-banghead ) and 38 appearances in the tournament. Just FYI, this is just NCAA since 1971, they have history dating back to 1924 and claim 8 additional championships.

/End history lesson. In conclusion, Maryland people LOVE their Lax.

The quarterfinal round of the B1G women's lacrosse tournament was played today. Rutgers beat Ohio State in double overtime, 11 to 10, while Northwestern easily handled Michigan, 20-5.

Rutgers will play Maryland on Friday

Northwestern will play Penn State later in the day

Rutgers beats Hopkins to advance to the finals. Maryland beat Penn State.

Hopefully Rutgers has done enough to get into the tournament.

I think as long we keep this championship game close we manage to squeak in. Obviously if we win it we're in it.

How many conference championships has Rutgers won since being in the B1G? Would this be y'alls first?

The next one we win will be our first. No offense to Hopkins, but how do we beat them twice and are ranked #17 going into the conference tournament but we miss the field of 18. I do think Hopkins deserved to be in, but so did we. For that matter the ACC was a bit overrated from what I could see. Duke, Syracuse and Notre Dame deserved to be in. North Carolina was 8-6 against a schedule that doesn't look to be that much harder than Rutgers schedule and we went 11-5. I guess this is the problem with having our first good season in 12 years. Hopefully, this just puts a chip on the shoulder on the returning players to get it done next year.

Terps ladies advance to national championship after beating Syracuse 19 to 9.

http://www.laxmagazine.com/college_women...owing_down

Also, Terps will play Tar Heels once again for the national championship.

"Maryland faced UNC in the national championship game three years ago and again last year. The Terps lost in triple overtime in 2013, but rallied for a historic come-from-behind win in the title game last season. Maryland beat the Tar Heels, 8-7, in Chapel Hill back in late February. This should be another fantastic game."

The men's and women's NCAA final is setting up to be a quite interesting scenario. You have the ACC standard bearer in UNC going up against a former member in Maryland in both finals. That's a big deal in the lacrosse world.
