If Liberty Could Join Any Conference?
If LU could be in any conference which would you pick?

I'd choose the ACC. It has the closest rivals, a good mix of privates, and is prestigious and competitive.

If I had to choose a G5 it would be the AAC. They have some close teams and offer a widespread national affiliation. There is a nice mix of privates as well.

RE: If Liberty Could Join Any Conference?
I want Liberty in the Big Ten but I realize it is likely never going to happen. That leaves me desiring the SEC but I feel it is infinitely better to be the southernmost school in a northern league than the northernmost school in a southern league., performance-wise. The ACC would be great but that would likely mean that Virginia and/or Virginia Tech left which removes potentially great rivalries. I'd accept any Power 5 invitation. For that matter, I'd accept any FBS invitation, but my preference in order for G5 conferences would be AAC, MWC, CUSA, MAC, then Sun Belt. The Sun Belt and MAC are debatable but the Sun Belt has made me bitter towards them so out of spite I am putting them last.

Independent would be cool if it were the old days when there were plenty of other independents. Plus, if your name isn't Notre Dame, BYU, or Army there is virtually no bowl access. But independence gives you great scheduling options.

Actually thats not the case anymore about bowl access. Yes you dont have any reserved bowl games, but you win at least 7 games someone will invite you to fill a slot. There are so many bowl games they had to fill 2 slots with 5-7 teams. If you are willing to play away games teams will schedule you.

Frankly I would love the Indy route. As much as I want to go FBS, I don't get to excited about playing UL Monroe, Ga State, South Alabama, Texas St and some of the other SB schools. App and Ga Southern are higher on the list. Being able to make your schedule would be difficult, but very interesting. Looks at the schedule UMass put together.

I am impressed. That is a good indy schedule. We could pull that off..... given the opportunity. Of course we'd need to add at least 10,000 more seats to The Bill.

The AAC would have some pretty good rivalry games as well with ECU, Navy, and Temple. But it's far less realistic.

If I had a magic wand I'd add Liberty, ODU, WKU and Army to the AAC.
