A Johnnie's fan talking. You guys gave p many years ago.

Why did you stop playing UConn at MSG?

Was it because UConn fans dominated your home games?

BU could do at least what the other A10 teams are doing, quite easily.

As I said, the past record is there. Back when they had decent players and played decent competition, they had 4,000+ fans in Walter Brown arena.

I was actually there for those games. Reggie Lewis at Northeastern. UConn played at Walter Brown. They had kids go to the NBA. It wasn't bigtime ball, but it was midmajor ball. And they had 4k fans in the arena.

BU won't do what other A-10 teams are doing. They've always had money. They never bothered to spend money on their program. They had decent coaches, then refused to pay them enough to stay, or pay enough to recruit and retain talent.

They've apparently decided that being the 4th/5th best academic school in Boston works for them. Its kind of a dumb move IMHO. They have a very strong alumni pedigree (including Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr.) but really don't have much of a profile outside their region. And they're stifled by other schools academically in the region. A higher profile athletic program seems to be tailor made for their needs.

But they've decided that mediocrity in the Patriot League works for them. And it would take a decade of serious cash on BU's part to even get them into an A-10 discussion, much less a Big East one.

Surely that means BB will thrive in every school in NYC Maybe as Midwestern addition we should look at Detroit. That was one of the most populated cities in the country, at one time. they have home grown talent.

Hard to believe I'm responding to this cluelessness.

Manhattan College: 3,000 students
Boston University: 30,000 students.

BU has 10x more students than Manhattan.

This is precisely my point.

And unlike Manhattan, BU is one of the top academic schools in the country, an AAU school, a very large AAU school, in a big city.

As for Fordham, they are already in the Atlantic 10. This is precisely what I have been saying. BU is an optimal candidate for the B10. Poor attendance is largely a result of being in a poor conference with poor basketball. The sport's potential is much greater.

Astounding as to how you can't seem to understand very basic and simple points.

you must be trying troll because you cant be this dense. Maybe you are 8 years old? I don't know

you honestly think the B1G would be interested in BU BB?
Why cant you answer a simple question?
when has BU EVER shown they were interested in building a competitive program in BB?

why haven't any of the 30,000 students been supportive of the program? oh right its because they were in the Yankee conference or the ECAC or whatever it was called in the 80's Funny how other members of that same conference have moved on and found greater success than BU.

Fordham has been so successful in the A10 they really should be the model for all to follow especially BU. Once BU gains B1G membership they will skyrocket to the top of mens BB.
I'm not sure to be more amused or frightened by you actually believing BU is a viable candidate for the B1G, BE or any league not named the Patriot.

BU has reached the pinnacle of their aspirations. they are in a conference with academically desirable schools that put athletics second. they are not BIG material. jus being in a "large" city with a large student body doesn't mean that school is a desirable target

puzzling that you cant seem to understand very simple and basic points[/b]

The just hired a great coach in Bill Carmody. They have a 12k arena downtown that currently has no tenant. Worcester is the 2nd largest city in New England. Worcester County is huge and they have a potentially large but dormant fanbase.

Holy Cross also had a chance to get in on the ground floor of the Big East but passed. They've been pretty resolutely against anything athletic that would hamper or taint their academic mission. That said, if any of the non-FBS PL schools were going to elevate their athletics to the Big East or A-10, Holy Cross is the only one that'd have a puncher's chance.

and 30.000 plus BU wasn't even considered for the BE yet somehow they are a fit for the B1G according to upstater
