I went and found video of the check swing after i saw your post. Agree, that was a terrible check swing call. There has been a lot of that call in the PS, heck the Yankee-Sox WC game had three bad check swing calls in the first 5 innings. It is a shame that with two great games, the umps had to have so much to do with the outcome.

. Apparently Eddings is always bad though. He finished the regular season as the 6th most pitcher friendly ump in MLB.
Yeah, and when you have two great staffs like this that's a recipe for disaster for hitters. I guess my question would be how does an ump that rated that low wind up working a playoff series.

Working a playoff series and getting the deciding game 5. I have forgotten which series, but I recall the announcers talking about the umpire rotation within a series and how they were intentional about the crew chief getting game 5 or game 7 if it came to that. I'm not suggesting that any suspicious, but my understanding is that him being behind the plate was intentional and that just seems like a really bad decision.

I was pulling for the Giants, namely Bryant and La Stella, but I don't really care that they lost. I love baseball and the way last night was called is off-putting.

Good for Evan. I remember the C of C tourney game as his coming out party. Nasty stuff, then followed that filth with a great game in the LSU Regional. UNCW pitching beginning to make a big mark at the major league level!

Funny story. I was at a pool in Leesville and his mom was talking about the LSU game the day after. I overheard and told her that her son really transformed his game by going to strickly out of the stretch. She told me that he was throwing hard at age 3 LOL!

There's my dilemma. I really like Dusty, just sad he landed on that team. The key will be starting pitching, no one thought ATL would beat LA either. Which Garcia and Valdez show up, the one from early in the Sox series, or late? Atlanta has a pretty damn good big 3. It will be interesting to see if Rosario for ATL or Alverez for Houston slow down at all. Both have been monsters!

As much as I didn't like the Astros' cheating, it's hard to pin as much of their success on it anymore.

Hard to believe this was Atlanta's first pennant since '99. So much regular season success as a franchise for decades but not much to show for it in the postseason.

As a Mets fan I can't bring myself to root for Atlanta. So, ugh...go Astros.

Oh the irony in this post. Several years later after the accusations against the Pats and Brady you still "beat that drum" but you just dismiss it after a few years for the Astros?

The key difference is the MLB seemingly handled it, whereas Goodell destroyed tapes. The Pats had multiple cheating scandals and do not deserve any benefit of the doubt.

My issue with the Astros is that any of those schmuck players from those teams are still allowed to play the game. That’s the part that bothers me. MLB has banned players, coaches, and managers from the game for far less tarnishing activities.

Altuve being the biggest on video offender. Knowing he was wearing a device to help him read pitches.

Their continual existence in the game is pathetic and why I don’t really care about MLB anymore.

Handled it? LOL. There was less punishment handle out for that than any of the Pats deals. Your hate and non objectivity on the matter is shining through.
As CG points out aside from slap on the wrists for the manager the players involved got nothing. Which is a joke.

Anyways not to derail this thread further, who does everyone got? I'm going to say Astros in 6. Will be rooting hard for the Braves but i just don't see them winning.
