I know you kinda take what you can get this late in the game, but damn I miss the excitement of getting multiple top 100 recruits. I'll try to reserve judgement for a year or two, but Tubby's recruiting is the one thing that has me worried. At a place like Memphis you should be able to consistently put together top 20 recruiting classes.

It s pretty late in the game to expect a top 100 recruit, thanks to Pastner bolting so late. Can't blame Tubby Smith for a rather bare recruiting class (comparatively speaking) this year.

But I do expect for this team to look light years better in terms of discipline, execution, and game management that anything Pastner ever put on the court. We will win some games this year we probably shouldn't, given the lack of talent and depth. And that always bodes well for the future.

Coach that replaced Orlando at TT had no problem getting a quality PG recruit out of Juco market and he was hired AFTER Orlando took the Memphis job.

Something tells me that you are not overly enthused with "Orlando's" presence here.

Just sick of the hypocrisy in here heaping praise on someone for doing a piss poor job recruiting and already making excusing for why he is not doing better. Hell the guy that replaced him at TT got a graduate transfer PF from Arkansas St which would have been perfect for our needs.

Sick of people claiming that it is because he got here so late. While the guy who replaced him at TT, which according to many is a much harder place to recruit, has signed two top Juco guards and a grad transfer PF since he has arrived. Which was AFTER Orlando arrived in Memphis.

While we are losing recruiting battles for bargain basement Juco players to a below mid major school.

Also, doesn't help your cause when you don't know what you're talking about. First, Beard has not signed a "top JUCO PG". He hasn't signed any PG.

Second, you laud the recruits that Beard has signed - while Tubby's class here is higher rated than Beard's.

Finally, you try to make a point in a Clergeot thread about Beard out-recruiting Tubby. When Clergeot is the highest rated player either coach has gotten this year.

Once again, it's just a big FAIL on your part.

I'm not going to read this thread to see the losers that made this thread go to the smack board, but I will say this: If you are one of the ones complaining about Tubby not recruiting well then you need to reflect on what a loser you are and maybe consider changing your life because you are pathetic

Watched him play a few times huh? What'd you like about his game?

Yeah he was a sophomore I think at the time. Strong to the rim, sort of a fearless, controlled swagger. Quick with the ball and explosive. Shot the ball well but probably should have shot more in the tournament I saw him in. I thought he looked a bit like a poor man's D. Wagner a little.
My first thought was how physical he was with the ball.

FYI, Keon averaged 3.8 and 1.2.
