Any way this prompts the ACC to invite Cincy before the Big 12 does?

RE: Big 12: "We intend to be active very soon" to speak with schools that want to join
There are a couple of meanings behind this...

1) Texas was always openly opposing expansion. That means they are allowing expansion to happen so Texas Tech, TCU, Baylor, Iowa State, Kansas State, etc, have a conference to remain in and will not be damaged by having to move down to the G5 level.

2) It means Texas and Oklahoma are leaving TOGETHER and Oklahoma State is not leaving the B12.

It sounds like they will be keeping the same TV deal so there will not be a new GOR.

And with the ACC news yesterday and the B12 news today, it SECURES ND as an independent.

BYU won't get an invite. They're not going to invite a school with the ego of Texas, another private shady religious school with its own set of sexual scandals.

Big school with some cache in the CFB world. They are the biggest name out there.

If BYU and UConn are ruled out for various reasons then it leaves Houston and Cincinnati as the two schools who look most the P5 part.

USF administrators should be working overtime plus overtime on this, as of NOW.

the "wrong" part is reading anything that denise dodds writes

Pretty fair assessment. He basically trolls the Big 12.

This bodes well for BYU, UConn and Cincinnati since they are good in all 3 areas.

UConns geography is whats holding it back here. Though they along with Temple are perfect fits as options if ND ever fully joins the ACC.

UConn does have the most options outside of a B12 probably.

1) Wait for the ACC to expand.
2) Wait for the B1G to expand
3) Talk to the BE about joining in basketball, Indy in FB.

They don't need to get in the B12 like Houston does if they want to continue to grow their program.

I don't think the BE is interested in FB schools who might bolt in a few years. After the divorce i think they are happy with their new set up. Now if UConn wanted to drop Fb to the FCS level thats a different story.

McMurphy quote from Big 12 source: "Cincinnati leader in clubhouse but we don't have a clubhouse"

Yep, pretty much rules out memphis and the florida schools.

I was thinking that the ACC might be inclined to make a preemptive strike and take UConn, Cincy and/or Temple.

First rule of expansion: don't talk about expansion.

I guess the Big12 wasn't paying attention to the ACC circus in 2003.

Tommy just heard the news. He's reportedly ecstatic to be headed back to the Big 12.

The real interesting thing is what happens in the G5 landscape if lets say 4 teams are invited to the Big 12. The AAC will have to backfill, and that is going to make things really interesting as the trickle down begins.

I would think that the ACC would only add one. That would give them 16 in all sports except football which would have 15.55.

No, you can't call what happens among the G5 as interesting as G5 to P5 moves. Those are more interesting, by definition, trailing only P5 to P5 moves.

C. Austin Cox has been pretty spot on lately. Said they would announce a successful vote on expansion of at least 2 teams and the teams would be decided in September. He thinks it will be UC/MEM
