But all the the writers were wrong about this, even McMurphy.

C. Austin Cox has been pretty spot on lately. Said they would announce a successful vote on expansion of at least 2 teams and the teams would be decided in September. He thinks it will be UC/MEM

From 6 days ago via Twitter:
If everything plays out as anticipated. We'll get word on expansion July 19th (Day 2 of Media Days) and then the teams announced in mid-Sept

If the MWC loses CSU New Mexico might get that lifeline. OR UTEP finally heads west.

OK, is this the list of the players?

- BYU
- Cincy
- Houston
- Memphis
- UCF
- USF
- Colo St
- UConn

Lots of good options, just different +/- for each (geography, academics, on the field, TV marke, history, etc).

I'm assuming Cincy is #1 and are basically in.

Yeah, I think they try and bridge the gap with WVU and head east with two. If they want more than that then BYU and a bridge with CSU. I think the florida schools as well as UConn are too far away and I think they want new areas so that counts out Houston.

No, you can't call what happens among the G5 as interesting as G5 to P5 moves. Those are more interesting, by definition, trailing only P5 to P5 moves.

Meh. I doubt the Big 12 expansion is all that exciting. We all pretty much know who the possibilities are. It's just a question of how many and which direction the Big 12 wants to expand.

However, there are some G5 leagues that have already been crippled by realignment, looking at getting hit again. That's going to cause some rifts. Certainly won't be looked at on a major national scale, no, but it's going to be a lot more explosive then the inevitable date of Cincy announcing a press conference to accept a Big 12 invite.

Really depends on how much weight geography plays...could eliminate all but 2 with a map assuming HOU is blocked because of TX. Academics, several are competitive. On the field eliminates a couple maybe. History would eliminate 2-3. Geography, you get MEM and UC as the best fits

The fact that ECU is not included in this list makes me sick to my stomach.

Don't be, I'm just some guy at his laptop. I don't run the Big 12.

For all I know, they'll announce ECU/Tulane as the two.

The "very soon" bit says it all. The B12 keeps crying wolf but never seems to actually do anything.

This is the first time they have publicly announced they were looking for expansion candidates. This is not crying wolf.

Yes, that is the list. No one outside that list will get an invite.

Okay if the MAC loses NIU to the AAC do they add JMU, Delaware or a CUSA school?

If CUSA loses two schools to the AAC do they go after JMU and UMass or two Sun Belt schools?

If they go after two Sun Belt schools who does the Sun Belt invite? Liberty? JMU? Delaware?

If CSU is taken does the MWC add New Mexico or do they go after UTEP?

There is a scenario where CUSA could lose up to 3 schools.

God i've missed this! hahaha
