"Why all the presentations? Told Big 12 feels if school expressed interest, deserves chance to make a case. Could help schools on bubble."

"Not expanding would be a PR disaster after public announcement. Only reasons not to: if huge TV extension in works or lack of consensus"

"Told 12 is a safe middle ground and means that Big 12 feels reasonably confident about its future and possible new media interest come 2024."

"Told that 12 or 14 both remain options for conference, zero far less likely. Fourteen means more $$$$, bigger footprint, more stability."

How is 14 more stable?

Ask the other conferences at 14..

That said, I'm struck by the differences in tone between the ESPN tweet (McMurphy) and the DMN tweets (Carlton).

Yup. It is clear that ESPN's "reporting" division is completely colluding with its business operations.

I agree.

McMurphy's report was pretty sketchy with some conclusions thrown in that are a bit presumptive... framed to make people think the Big 12 was changing their minds.

Which is evidence that espn knows the big 12 is expanding and they are throwing a hissy fit.

@McMurphyESPN makes great point on CFB Live, but the Grab $ is on! There's no stopping it. The BIG12 will expand and BYU & others will help.

If the BIG12 at this stage changes its mind again, David Boren and OU would be on the phone with Sankey at the SEC & dominoes begin falling

Obviously Tim Brando is completely oblivious to the GOR so no one is leaving until 2025
I think at the end they will add two and compromise with the networks"

10-12-14 none of that makes them more stable if Texas says goodbye.

Fox vs ESPN

Fox won

the BYU LGBT was a perfect torpedo by Fox fueled by OU/Texas to ESPN's bullcrap.

Glad somebody finally stood up to those chimps at the four letter network

LOL, We told the Big East that we were going to market.... what they did to us afterwards would be a hate crime in almost every country.

In the end, the Big 12 needs to be careful because the LHN shows where ESPNs loyalties are.... and there are exactly 8 teams they do not care about at all.

They will break it all up, take what pieces they like (again) and leave the rest to wonder what the hell happened.

The key is understanding the times. At the time BE was negotiating, ESPN was invincible. Now? Their bleeding and look vulnerable. Fox will hurt them while they can

Brett McMurphy claims it's a three horse race for 2 spots between BYU, Houston and Cincinnati. IMO, the first two are the most likely adds.
