Fear the stronger teams. Boise State, Houston, Memphis, East Carolina, UCF, USF, Northern Illinois, North Dakota State, and so forth. Noticed how they eliminate schools that have beaten them left and right for the expansion mixed?

The team he doesn't want, the team his arch-rival wants ... and some say artificially "forced" into contention ... and the team that a decent faction in the league, that he's probably aligned with, don't want to recruit against.
Actually, the indications are that Boren was first on board with UH. There were some early quotes from Oklahoma implying that.
It does make it easy to ignore coaches complaining about them eating into recruiting.

While on the field scores shouldn't really matter, I like UH as a candidate because I think the league needs teams that can be consistently strong. Houston has the recruiting grounds to be a consistent top 25 team.
I'm honestly not sure there are many other candidates one can be as confident about being able to recruit from day 1.

Does this mean Rice is likely for the AAC to replace Houston?

The BIG XII will take 1 of the Florida schools. Of that I'm sure. Recruiting is the main thing. Take care of the Noles and it will look good. Wish you guys the best against FSU. BEAT THEM!

If we want to get good $$s, we need to get good TV ratings. To get good TV ratings we need competitive teams, not just "markets."

$$s are the main thing and almost the only thing.
The value of an addition helping your recruiting is way overrated. Coaches with connections help your recruiting. Adding a team halfway across the country does almost nothing for you. Now the SEC adding a school in Texas, the Big 10 adding a school in New Jersey or if the Big 12 added a school in Louisiana, that would help. But you have to have some connection already.

Agreed, although in the case of Houston, they are both a good market and good recruiting/ competitive potential.

That's nonsense. Since A&M joined the SEC, the city of Houston is more of an SEC town.

Boise State find talent that P5 schools ignored them. Look at Kellen Moore? A QB from Prosser, Washington. There are a lot of hidden talent in the state of Washington that have gone on with great success at Boise State. You find some of these highly regarded recruits for the P5 winds up being a bust in college football. Mitch Mustain was one of them.

If the Big 12 won't take Houston, I'm sure the PAC-12 and ACC will look at them down the road. Houston is in the driver's seat today, thanks to a program-defining win.
Houston would be an immensely valuable asset to the Big 12. Whether or not the Big 12 realizes that is anyone's guess, but Houston is unlikely to be locked out.
Coog fans/alumni, congratulations on this signature victory. May it be start of something special in coming weeks/months.

It would not be unwise for the Pac 12 to take a look at Houston and SMU now - they would both prefer the Big 12, but there may be a higher ceiling for everyone involved with Houston and SMU in the Pac 14. The presence in Texas would be a huge boost financially to the Pac 14. It would also force the American into a less-than-desirable add by adding two of Rice, UTSA, and North Texas to keep Tulane, Tulsa, and Navy.

Bullet, why does this win make it easy to ignore coaches who are complaining about recruiting against Houston??
Doesn't it make it harder now to recruit against them? Especially once they get their football support facilities built up in a couple years.
