You speak for USA only. So that's one vote ... and from a school that is hardly the most important in the conference.

Entirely irrelevant points, as no one was suggesting they should join the SB right now. Maybe in 10-20 years they'll be ready.

At that time, you can ask your arbitrary questions. Maybe SA won't even be in the Sun Belt by then, who knows.

But since no one is saying that WF should get an invite today, your analysis is completely invalid. Try again in 10-20 years.

You would be hard pressed to find any notable number of Memphis Tiger fans across the river in Arkansas that aren't alums and I suspect that the same is true of Idaho and Washington State in Pullman and Moscow and of Toledo across the border in Michigan, probably similar in Kentucky across from Cincinnati.

I know a good number of AState fans in Missouri and Memphis but I've only met one who wasn't an alum and that was a young man who grew up in Jonesboro and took a job in Branson.

I doubt there many South Alabama fans when you cross into Mississippi or Florida and the same would be true of UWF drawing out of Alabama.

Uh ... but let's be real here: there is no such thing as a fan of a Sun Belt school who isn't an alumni or has a direct connection (friend, family, colleague, etc.) to a Sun Belt alumni.

So much ignorance. USA, has a history of support among the local community, including those who did not attend USA. USA has strong support in Southeastern Mississippi, where the largest feeder institution to the school is located.

Again, USA is pretty relevant in the SBC. 45 years of tenure does count. USA doesn't do 'splashy talk' like Mohajir, but I think you'll find that they're influential enough to block UWF. And Troy doesn't want them either. And if another school voted to impose UWF on USA and Troy or Jax State on Troy and Ga State, they probably will retaliate in later votes.

Tom,

I disagree with your argument. South Alabama does not control the Pensacola Market. The Biloxi-Mobile - Pensacola media market is pretty good size as far as the number of folks living in the area. Actually, Mobile radio stations can be heard in Ft. Walton.

I believe that a UWF rivalry will lift both schools exposure and bring in more resources. I believe there is enough room for the two schools to share a 1.2 million people media market.

ohh... plus share it with Alabama, Auburn, Florida and Florida State. 04-cheers

I do not believe that USA or Troy will block UWF from getting a SBC invite.

Don't give them any ideas. Next there will be a Universidad de Panamá to the Sun Belt thread.

Arkansas State is opening a campus in Queretaro, Mexico. Know the campus has a gym because AState has been gathering information on hosting a foreign tournament.

Can you read? The discussion is about UWF not Panama joining Sun Belt.

Panama City and Panama City Beach are about 90 miles west of Pensacola. There are approximately 400,000 people living in the area not including the adjacent counties in Alabama. That means there are approximately 1.8 million people living within 100 miles of Pensacola. That should be a pretty good base to attract support for UWF.

When I was at South, students in adjacent counties from Mississippi were considered in-state students. I believe that Florida had the same arrangement.

UWF has an enrollment of 13,002 and growing and has a 1,600 acre campus

South Alabama's enrollment is 16,699 and growing. The campus sits on 1,244 acres. USA had 14,064 students when the football program started playing in 2009. The schools are comparable. Of course, South has a much higher academic profile.

UWF's enrollment should be at 16,000 in about 5 years with about 16,000 alumni traditionalized (my word) to going to football games and homecoming. The on campus stadium will be a done deal at that point. I can see a 30,000 plus football stadium to host South Alabama and Troy games. Maybe 40,000 if you add games with Navy and Air Force.

Yes I can read. But I will no make a comment on your education level an comprehension skills. I will only post the facts.

UWF has a hell of a ways to go before even being considered for membership in the Sun Belt Conference. If the Sun Belt had to add a new member in the next 4-5 years UWF would not even be on the conferences list. So in the real world that most posters on this message board live in are able to understand these facts. Now 10-20 years from now the facts maybe different but who knows.

I live within one mile of the Georgia State line so I know the facts about students from adjacent counties in other states.
