As a Tulsa, CUSA-12 is a dream come true. I never again want to have anything to do with a Far Western Conference....the geography, lagged time zones for tv telecasts, and lack of unity there buries the positives the far western schools bring. Whatever the situation in the central and eastern time zones, it is a better situation for Tulsa.

Dude, what the Hell are you talking about? Memphis has been D1 since it's inception in 1912. The reason you don't know that we are not "relative newbies to big time football", is because we have been overshadowed by the SEC for years. We were independent for years. We may not always have been good, but we have played Big time football since before I was born (1967). Had some good years in there to. Memphis. Undefeated in '29, '38, '63. Won our only two bowl games in the 20th century in 1956 and 1971. Why we didn't get a bowl bid in '63, I'll never know.

I think many of the big schools should defect to a NEW organization that they should set up and leave the NCAA behind. The NCAA slows them down and overshadows the smaller program schools. The SMU's, Rice's, Tulane's, etc. would be better off within an organization more intune to their needs and not of the majors who set the parameters for themselves. Like D. Royal said, "The big'uns always eat the little'uns." Don't think the six man football champs revel any less in their championship like the 5A bigs do.

How are you treated like a second-class citizen? When answering remember losing games is not people treating you in any way.

Mountain West? Over rated with a TV viewing audience of nothing.
The current CUSA has only been together about 5 years.
It will come around, and we will make it ours.

And we're more content with that than you will ever want to know.

We are going with the TCU model which means they were not in a league where SMU would be, now were they? 03-nutkick

And 17,000 for "Fill Ford Day" with a bowl team this last season?04-jawdrop Get ready to start looking for a new HFC because the one you have now will (sooner than later) want to start coaching before much larger crowds than you get in University Park, Texas.

I have to wonder what the feelings of SMU fans are now about C-USA.The MWC invited SMU,UTEP & Houston in 2010 but they turned theMWC down. Now it looks like you're headed to the BE which I think is a mistake but my school wanted the BE last year.I'm glad you are in C-USA but it doesn't look like that will last much longer.Good luck.

I for one, enjoyed SMU's presence in Conference USA. Personally speaking, I'd love to see your football team evolve into what it was competitively on the field before the NCAA came down on it like they did in the Dickerson-James era, & June Jones is one hell of a coach and has the team headed in the right direction. The Mustangs were fun to watch then, and they're fun to watch now. Good luck in the Big East. One question I had about Coach Jones, didn't he leave to take a job with Arizona or Arizona State, had a mercurial change of heart and came back to SMU?
