I hope that you are standing every time you watch a sporting event on your couch (probably not). I hope that you voice your opinion to everyone at a game who talks during the anthem(probably not). By the way, the NFL just started making players line up for the anthem a few years ago. Your favorite college team, Temple, still doesn't stand for the anthem. I hope that your hypocritical @ss boycotts them this weekend.

Uh, no it's not a free country. We have book bannings on subjects of those who disagree with the material in the books, see link below. Free countries allow both sides of the argument to be heard, not one side. It's easy to win arguments when you eliminate the opposition.

Get real, book bannings?

Guy in Pennsylvania is pissed off because Portland's school board gets to determine it's own curriculum.

You should maybe consider what's really meant by "book banning" and not living in a "free country" before you take shots at the US.

It's not an isolated occurrence. A high school student recently wrote a paper on anti-gun control and police were summoned and other discipline happened, see --> http://www.breitbart.com/2nd-amendment/2...l-project/

Where and when does it stop? It's called censorship and how Nazi Germany started their campaign of propaganda, censorship, and book bannings, and burnings. In their much of it was ethnic intimidation yet intimidation is certainly alive and well here in America, see Nazi book bannings --> https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/List_of_au...zi_Germany

Is there anything in the school code of conduct that says they have to stand during the national anthem? If not, there is no reason they should lose their scholarship.

Did they play their instruments? Did they follow the formation they were supposed to?

These are things a scholarship band member is expected to do in exchange for their scholarship.

And yet none of them get scholarships...

They don't have to worry about ever getting them now.

I would love for someone to explain:

that politely (through non-participation) kneeling during the anthem is WORSE than someone who

carries around the confederate flag (anti-union symbol for treason and treachery that cost a lot of American lives)?

This has gone too far...

I get that there is a heavy military presence in Fayetteville, but this seems extraordinarily unnecessary given the music department has forbidden the kids from doing this again.

If my Memphis games were to no longer be broadcast on the Tiger Sports Network because of the petulance and dishonor of a dozen or so band members, I'd be pissed too. I'd get it... but I'd be pissed.

Only Pat Tillman could answer your question. But I will tell you that my uncle who fought in Vietnam thinks all this outrage is ridiculous by many who don't care about what's happening to vets when they come home. He says he fought for the right of all Americans to choose and that includes standing for the National Anthem.

I booed the ever living **** out of those pansies. Pulled my money on Monday and the pirate club is already calling me to come meet me. You libs can dish it out but can't take the repercussions that come with free speech. Just for reference my grandfather was literally storming the beaches of Normandy to save the world at the same age of these band memebers. Our country is doomed, I can deal with losing but these kids have no respect

LOL. You asked a real question.

Yea because university groups were on the field kneeling and waving the confederate flag. Outsiders don't understand North Carolina has one of the largest military bases and many alums go on to OCS after they graduate. Most military are very proud and will die for you and don't ask for **** but a little respect.
