One question we can ponder during this slow time of the year and one the coaching staff will be pondering too, is now that we have at least 14 OOC games, the same as conference play, we had 10 OOC in the WAC---who do we schedule?? I don't think it would hurt us to schedule some more games in TEXAS, Like UTA, in the metroplex, yes, even Prairie View to bring in the Houston area, Texas State for Cental Texas and UTSA , for the San Antonio area, maybe even a Sam Houston State. There are a lot of options and a number of these teams, are in the upper half of their conference, and not hanging aound the 300 mark in the RPI, more like the low 200's. A couple more Texas games would keep our name in the paper for recruits and also not cost a fortune if we did a 2-1 deal!!!

We need to play directional schools and the Texas School for the Blind. Heck, we should even play ORU.

We're going to be young next year and really need confidence. JP stuck as with a tough schedule the last couple of seasons and our meltdown happened before Christmas. We'll get it together... but, for the moment, we're borrowing the Kelvin Sampson school of scheduling playbook.

This year, we should schedule a little light to get the new staff and team off to a good start. After that I would like to see OU, OSU,Ark and Kansas on a home and home or no worse than 2 for 1. Keep ORU and La Tech on the schedule and I would like regular series with Wichita, Creighton, No. Texas, So Ill. and La Tech. Add recruiting games with Texas Tech, Fla. St and Miami. If we could also schecule an Eastern swing with St. Johns, Navy, Army it would help our reputation. We need strong scheduling to prepare us for the conference schedule in CUSA.

Last I heard, the TU Coaches were still looking for six games for next fall. Our reputation lives, and no one wants to schedule us... especially at our own place.

For years, I have been in favor of an East Coast swing, a couple of games against Temple, St Johns, UMass or other East Coast teams. That's the only way half the voters in the polls know you're alive since they don't see us on TV every week!! I would assume some of our OOC games will have to be played during the CUSA season. Maybe those games could be played fairly close to home, at least not on the Coasts. I also hope we keep La Tech on our schedule, even in football in the future. Ark St and Ark-LR could be mid season games that would be fairly close. A 14 game OOC schedule will be a challenge for the new Coach, especially if every couple of years we are also in a holiday tourney. As TUFan mentioned a lot of bigger name schools still won't want to come to Tulsa, figuring next year might be our return to glory, although you do get twice as many RPI points for a road win vs a home win!! It would be nice if we played at least 8 home OOC games a year and the first two of those being against the Grambling's of the world!!

I don't see how it would be possible to have an easier OOC schedule than what we had this past year. We only played 3 teams worth a darn (OU, Wichita State, ORU), two of those were home games and the other was a neutral floor. Arkansas was okay and we played them on the road. The other 6 teams were downright horrible and we still managed to lose two of those games... on our home floor no less.
I'll be curious to see the schedule come out.

Our OOC was actually better this year and last year than it was for some of our other tournament teams. JP's first year (we only played Kansas) and even the Elite 8 team (Tennesee and a mediocre Creighton team). Last year we played OU, Gonzaga, and a (then) really good Witchita State team.

Play all of the MidCon. That way TU can get 10 easy ooc games and the bonus of winning C-USA and the MidCon!
