1st ratings next week
just thinking about the ratings that'll be out next week....

1st off this weekend huge weekend for 3 teams...
Clemson @ Florida St
Washington @ Utah
Nebraska @ Wisconsin

in fact, the only 2 top 10 teams that play at home this weekend are Ohio St(hosting Northwestern) and Texas A&M(hosting New Mexico St).

very few teams off this weekend. Alabama, LSU, UNC, WMU, and Colorado.

Five of those are current P5 Athletic Directors:

Hocutt (Texas Tech)
Alvarez (Wisconsin)
Long (Arkansas)
Mullens (Oregon)
Radakovich (Clemson)

Everybody else is a "former" something.

Former coaches:

Bower (Southern Miss)
Deromedi (Central Michigan)
Johnson (Vanderbilt)
Willingham (Notre Dame, Stanford and Washington)

The others:

Rice (Secretary of State)
Wieberg (USA Today reporter)
Jernstedt (NCAA Executive VP)

even if that happened, Clemson would be ahead of Louisville. Head to Head matters.

depends on if FSU annihilated Clemson....

I could see the committee putting Louisville ahead for a few weeks....after all, there are no rules. TCU was pretty high in '14 when they got left out...eventually they were forced to put Baylor ahead

RE: 1st ratings next week
so looking at things.....
ACC- Clemson lock if they win out
Big Ten- Michigan lock if they win out, really Ohio St, Nebraska are as well quite frankly
Pac 12- Washington lock if they win out
SEC- Alabama, Florida locks if they win out

Where things get crazy now is especially in the Pac 12 if Washington St wins the next 2 games(vs Arizona, Cal)- their game with Washington will be for the division title. But WSU has no shot to make the playoff. That's where then a Louisville, Texas A&M, or Michigan easily could sneak in the playoff.

my top 5 this week-
1 Alabama
2 Michigan
3 Washington
4 Clemson
5 Louisville

My Top 5

Alabama
Clemson
Michigan
Washington
Louisville

Until Michigan beats Ohio State (assuming they do), I think Clemson's wins over Louisville, @FSU, and @Auburn should be valued more than Michigan's home wins over Wisconsin and Colorado.

Cheers,
Neil

Agreed....Clemson's win over Auburn is indeed looking big now as the Tigers seem to be coming on.

Clemson has beaten Louisville, FSU, and Auburn (2 of those on the road). Neither Washington nor Michigan can claim those types of victories.

RE: 1st ratings next week
What the rankings should be:

1. Alabama
2. Clemson
3. Washington
4. Michigan

Clemson's road wins vs Auburn and FSU plus the win over Louisville look better than Washington and Michigan's slate thus far. Give Washington the edge over the Wolverines because their win vs Utah was on the road while Michigan's win over Wisconsin was in Ann Arbor.

What the rankings will be:

1. Alabama
2. Michigan
3. Clemson
4. Washington

Because brand name matters.

RE: 1st ratings next week
Michigan 3 top 25 wins
Washington 1 top 25 win

So how exactly could Washington be ahead?

Honestly I believe Michigan is a fraud and if they played Clemson's or Alabama's schedule they'd already have at least two losses. I want to see Michigan go on the road and win against a tough opponent but because they play in the pillow soft Big Slow they don't have to worry about that until Nov. 26.

but that's not the question. How can Michigan with 3 top 25 wins be behind Washington with 1 top 25 win?

Because I believe that at least one if not two of Michigan's top 25 wins are frauds as well. Colorado has coasted through a soft schedule thus far and Penn State has yet to win a game on the road against a team with a pulse.

If Michigan makes it to the playoffs and faces either Clemson or Alabama in the opening game I expect them to get trucked just like Michigan State was last year.

What's the best path for a Big 12 team to get in? I suspect Oklahoma still has the best shot even with two losses. Don't see the committee buying Baylor/WVU.

Agreed. 6 of 8 games at home and the two road games were against Rutgers (LOL) and Michigan State (2-6).
