Great games? ok, whatever. It's football, so that's great, but still, wouldn't call them great in any fashion.

I expect they'll just about all get national play. What else is there to put on in August?

Does UMass sell its home games to TV individually?
For the others, just as a guess...
Stanford vs. Rice (Friday night U.S. time) -- CBSSN
Portland State at BYU -- BYUtv
South Florida at San Jose State -- CBSSN
Oregon State at Colorado State -- ESPN2

RE: Hawaii exception allows 9th game to start early
We have our own deal for Football, which was carried on NESN National and some games on NESNPlus. However the deal involved ASN. Here is an early link to an article and additional games were moved to NESN National.
Quote:August 04, 2016
AMHERST, Mass. – Announced by University of Massachusetts Athletics on Thursday, in conjunction with its multimedia rights holder, Learfield's UMass Sports Properties, a national television and digital distribution plan is in place for four football home games in 2016 via a partnership with American Sports Network (ASN).
For the Mississippi State, Tulane and Louisiana Tech games, all set for 3:30 p.m. kick times, ASN will partner with NESN to distribute in the New England market. A similar clearance will be in place for the Boston College game with TV info announced in the coming weeks. All four games will be available on the ESPN3 platform and the WatchESPN App.
"Our partnership with ASN will provide our football program with unprecedented television coverage," Director of Athletics Ryan Bamford said. "In addition to airing regionally and nationally on television, our fans will have access to our games on ESPN3 and the WatchESPN App. As we continue to build momentum for our football program, having multiple viewing options to showcase the Minutemen is a priority."

Well, it's great for us fans that there's a few games being played early. It's great publicity for those few teams including UMASS who will get some special attention. They aren't the typical FCS openers either with the exception of the BYU game. I think it's pretty cool. What if UMASS vs Hawaii could get on ESPN?
Cheers!

RE: Hawaii exception allows 9th game to start early
Wonder if ESPN gets in on "0 week" by doing a Game Day? My bet: Game Day at Colorado St vs Oregon St for CSU's debut in their new stadium. ESPN never wastes an opportunity to get in on something like this.
Cheers!

I keep thinking this could be a great tool for G5s to get P5s to play at G5 for Home and Home. For example, I would love Troy to play at Hawaii in 2020 and the NCSU @ Troy move to week 0. Game likely gets ESPN coverage and NCSU gets an additional bye week. Seems win to win.

Really enjoy tail gating so hoping for a mid afternoon or night game. Hope our TV situation will be worked out soon. NESN or Comcast would be fine. Have to think they are close to a deal. Kickoff is 9 weeks and and some hours away. Last time we were offered some money but chose ASN and ESPN3 for exposure. NESN picked up ASN distribution.

The UNLV football program today announced a four-game series with Cal-Berkeley of the Pac-12 Conference. The teams have never met.
The first installment of the series will be Aug. 29, 2020, at Sam Boyd Stadium. Cal makes another trip to Las Vegas in 2025. UNLV travels to Berkeley, Calif., on Sept. 17, 2022, and Sept. 5, 2026.

The 2020 UNLV-Cal game will likely be UNLV's first game in the new NFL Las Vegas stadium. Not Sam Boyd.
BYU and Arizona are set to open the 2021 season in the new Las Vegas stadium.
I presume the PAC 12 will work to have an opener there each season...and probably also move the PAC 12 championship game to the Las Vegas venue.
