Yeah Houston was actual 7th and big time over-rated. They ran through a really weak CUSA. Tech led Houston 34-7 in the third quarter before Case Keenum made miraculous comeback.

Tech wasn't that good and Houston should have been maybe ranked 23 or 24 because CUSA was WEAK IN 2011 also. Sorry to kill the nostalgia buzz for the USM fans but CUSA was nothing special that year either.

Yep. No BCS buster that year. Houston didn't deserve it though because they weren't anywhere close as good as the Boise teams that went to the BCS.

You're kidding, right? That was one of CUSA 2.0's best years, if not the best strength-wise.

Lets put this in some context

2011

S. Miss's scheduled was ranked 103 out of 120
Houston's schedule was ranked 104 out of 120

So either both played a very bad OOC schedules or CUSA wasn't as "strong" as you believe. Let you pick?

Exactly CUSA 2.0 wasnt that great as the nostaglic USM fans remember.

WAC sent 3 teams to BCS bowls. Tech was playing multiple ranked teams- Boise, Fresno, Nevada, Hawaii. So we really aren't that impressed.

Yeah....you can always call a top 10 Houston team OVERRATED, but NEVER NEVER NEVER call a 10-3 current C-USA squad OVERRATED..03-lmfao

Houston beat UCLA and Penn State that year...while so-called high-powered current C-USA teams constantly lose to middle and lower-of-the-pack SEC teams...

Houston scored 56 points, 48, 38, 35 (La Tech), 56, 49, 56, 63, 73, 56, 73 (again), 48 and then the least, 28, against USM....Love to be THAT overrated..04-cheers

only 16 schools played a easier schedule

10,000 at a championship game tells me a lot...03-lmfao
50 La Tech fans at the same game USM took 3,000 tells me a lot..

I simply stated a fact about a game 5 years ago...you guys are the ones who are so jealous that ya have to find whatever way you can to poo poo it...just like the a-hole announcers you lambasted today, and the fans from the power five schools that disgust you..04-cheers

I KNOW La Tech and WKU would each give their one ball to play Houston, ECU, Tulane, USF and Cinci, rather than Sweet Charlotte, Florida Int'l Airport, FAU and UAB. You would never call it an "easier" schedule if that happened, my friends.

You're wrong because WKU is not even close to being ranked. If WKU was ranked #7 in the AP, you bet they would be overrated.

You think the #7 team in FBS would be losing to Tech by 28 in the third quarter?
I can tell you this, I saw a few really great Boise teams (#4) come through Ruston and Tech never came close to leading them by that much.

UCLA? a 6-8 UCLA team that lost 50-0 to USC.

By the by, how many 12-0 teams has La Tech or WKU beaten this year? I'd say MOST teams y'all beat suck, yet La Tech and WKU are really good teams...

When one of you guys go into Houston and beat them by 20, let me know..04-cheers

They are for sure. Maybe not this year's team but definitely WKU last year. Those nostaligic USM fans live in the past where they aren't nearly as good as they think they were.

If USM would have made it to a BCS Bowl and beat a BCS team (Like Boise did multiple times) that might give credence to what they are saying but USM did neither.

So La Tech fans are not nostalgic? Then why o why do I see avatar's with all of your former players all over the internet? You just haven't won the conference titles we have, so again, presenting FACTS is not necessarily "nostalgia"..

AS for the Boise comparison, I'm sure kicking La Tech's azz every year doesn't do much to put us on the bronco's level, but then again, who else is a Boise? 03-lmfao

Besides, USM fans are more critical of our program than anyone else...and we know what our strengths and weaknesses are...so all this chit about us having our heads in the clouds is a lot better than some of you having your heads up your azzzz...04-cheers

2011 CUSA was a much stronger conference than what 2016 CUSA is. We finished with more ranked teams than the big east did I think. This year we won't have a single team ranked.

Again, had LT not gotten beat (in very close games mind you) to USM and Houston and USM/Houston went on to have the same success then LT fans would not be saying who was overrated and who wasn't that year.

I don't remember the exact year (maybe 2005?) and UCF had 51K+ in attendance at the C-USA championship game.

I do remember Southern Miss from the late 90's. They could hang with almost anyone. If there is ever an opening in the AAC, I wouldn't be opposed to bringing them back.

Stronger at the bottom yes. Not by much though, I have seen some plenty awful Tulsa, SMU, Tulane teams, and many more over the years.

The top though, especially WKU last year was just as strong as those old teams that you are referring to.
