This guy spent most of his life competing and revolving his life around his chosen sport. Playing football is an adrenaline rush that is hard to duplicate in any other manner. Add in the adulation that an athlete of his caliber experiences and you have a situation where some can have a tough time coping with life when it all ends.

Add in alcohol, marijuana, or any other type of drug to the mix - some just don't cope with it. It would appear that is what happened in this case.

Yep, mental illness can affect anyone. Sometimes marijuana actually helps some of the symptoms.

Quite possibly. I guess my point was that when someone commits suicide, I'm betting he had other issues that contributed to killing himself beyond marijuana usage.

Of course he had other issues. Same thing with blaming suicide on bullying or LGBT orientation. Mental illness causes someone to commit suicide 90% of the time. The other 10% is to avoid pain, be it from a terminal illness or be it to avoid taking responsibility for actions and serving time in prison.

Anyone that thinks pot is harmless should take a ride up to that park and see where weed took another life."

Just sayin'.

Mighty peculiar I must say.

I'll go out on a limb though and say weed didn't SUICIDE him.

I've known a couple. Watched one go from normal kid to star athlete to nothing. A crying shame.
Those of us that are old enough have seen some bright bulbs grow dim. Want to be a guaranteed dumbasss in 20 years? Smoke pot everyday.

Depends on the dose and the time. A one-hitter or two every night after the kids go to bed isn't going to make you a dumb***. Wake and bake, followed by bong hits at lunch and a gram at night vegging in front of the TV will indeed make you a dumb***. Substitute alcohol and you are a miserable, probably nasty and maybe violent douchebag. Get into the habit when you can afford to (you are young with few responsibilities) and you are more likely to go down that route. It is all in moderation.

I would venture a guess that almost all of them were dipshites before their first hit....

Is there anything in the article that suggests that marijuana lead to this man's death?

dunno....didn't read it....would 'high'ly doubt it other than maybe another feeble attempt to associate weed contributing to something that was already preexisting...

the board was due for a puff puff thread to bake up the monotony....

now that we're gaining on xmas, the bearded one threads should begin popping up any day now...

I read it. I saw it mentioned once; not regarding death though.
