RE: Miami Beach Bowl Stats
There is an old saying - "fatigue makes cowards of us all" and that was evident to me watching the game. We were in better shape and were better prepared and had more skill and were obviously the tougher team. There was no phase of the game that we were not better than the opponent imo. Dane was the better QB. Our receivers were better and more skilled. Better RBs. Better OL. Better defense top to bottom. The one area I'm not sure we were better was the punting game - because we never had to. But our kicker was pretty good hitting three FGs from his optimum range.
But that targeting call was ridiculous imo. Shindelar was slowing down, led with his hands and barely bumped the QB. You can't tell me the refs on the field and the one in the booth from the MWC made the right call. In the end, it mattered little, but the calls need to be made that actually occur and not perceived. imo
And now on to spring ball to find a QB, a receiver and very little else on offense - a DT or 2 and a LBer or two, a punter and very little else. We won't need to do a coach search or replace any coordinators (I hope) since we have the best in place. A word of caution to any of our coaches who want to move on to a bigger staff is what happened at Texas this year when two of our coordinators left for Austin and now are in coaches limbo - or maybe they'll be at USF with fired/hired coach Charlie Strong. Who knows. Bad move on their part.

I agree the targeting was totally ridiculous. I've learned not to count on the refs to help TU. Although we only had 3 penalties all day so it really wasn't bad.
It's going to be interesting to see who steps up and fills the open spots on the depth chart.
