What's the current buzz about this year's upcoming baseball team?

Tabor City...
I moved your thread here for a couple reasons.
1. "Bird Droppings" is our smack talk forum where people can get into internetz cat fights and express their true feeling for places like ecu.
2. Your Baseball thread will get more visibility and interaction on the main UNCW forum here.
Go Diamond Hawks!

The offense is gonna be great this year. Pitching we're going to kind of "cobble together", but it'll be a lot better than many think. Clark Cota is going to be awesome.
I posted a lot more info in a previous "UNCW Baseball 2017" thread, though of course that was several months ago.

Yeah, it's gonna be at least a month before we regularly discuss baseball again. That doesn't minimize their importance or how much we like them, it's just back to an era where we also have a high quality basketball team to keep us engaged during the winter. Not to mention, activity and new members around here have definitely increased with the successful basketball era.

I agree with 08 - offensivley this team has great potential. Pitching is more of an unproven commodity past a returning starter. But there is a plethora of young arms that although unproven can be of help as the season progresses.

I'm hoping that they're going to really surprise from a pitching standpoint. Cota is coming off of Tommy John so you never know. Those 2 guys that were at State and the young man that was going to UNC should help. Between these guys and the younger brother of our closer last year, we should have some guys that can bring it north of 90 MPH. Hopefully Alex Royalty will take the next step. He seems to have pretty good composure and has 3 pitches.

Sounds promising on the pitching front which will be critical for taking the next step to a Super! Hope the offense continues and the defense stays together.

Don't worry about the TJ surgery too much, Bill. Just trust me on Clark. He'll be turning heads this spring and be our Saturday guy.

Belher, Bissette, Cota, Levi Gesell are all solid arms...mix in Roberson, Gantz, Royalty and a couple of surprises...look out!!! Just need to stay healthy, defend and scratch some runs!
