Is LU's TV network a bargaining chip?
With all the discussion on hopeful FBS home and away games and rumors on FB conference scheduling, is Liberty's trump card it's sports network to offer as a scheduling bargaining chip? Seems like several of the C-USA board are receptive to the idea.

It certainly can't hurt. I would think Liberty will leverage it however possible in their favor. It is a great asset that most others don't have.

RE: Is LU's TV network a bargaining chip?
I read an interesting article posted by Sly from a reporter who was writing about LU paying ODU $1.3m for opening day 2018. Interestingly, the article author said he was prepared to rip LU until he dug deeper into the details of the agreement. There were several interesting points that stood out for me in the article. One was that LU retained all broadcast rights to the game and another that LU retains all gate revenue.

I've almost fully retired now and relocated in March to Florida. Watching the local Orlando stations I see ads promoting LU on broadcast TV and have also seen ads on national cable shows. With that notice, I'm betting that LU will heavily promote the ODU game, likely have a broadcast agreement with local, regional and maybe national affiliates to pick up the game. They will likely make it inexpensive to stations to purchase to have lots of eyeballs. I'm betting it will end up being the largest mass media event sports event LU has ever produced.

So yeah, LU took lots of heat with the salvos being tossed about paying 1.3 for the ODU game. It will be a hoot if that ends up being a wise financial investment, which I'm betting it does.
