Just like there would be the same number chickens in chicken coops.
Any other irrelevant, strawman observations?

Well "help" is obviously subjective, but we've already heard from one poster who would rather take that wasted hour of daylight before he gets up in the morning and add it on to the end of the day.
I'm in complete agreement.
Heck, in MN we could benefit from double DST in the core summer months.

And it doesn't really "help" them all that much. All it does is change the clock time of when they were going to get up and go to sleep anyway.

So you're saying that people in MN are doubly in the dark? I agree.

Saying that at this high of latitude, even with one offset (DST) we still have a good chunk of sunshine before people wake up, that could be shifted to later in the day.
Of course, then you might be talking 10pm daytime. So, it all has to be within reason.

Perhaps what should happen is the people who want to enjoy the additional hours of daylight should indeed change their clocks......but on the alarm side instead of the time side. They can then get up and enjoy the additional daylight and go into work relaxed and refreshed. That way they don't inconvenience the multitudes of folks who don't care one way or another and we don't lose productivity twice a year with asinine time changes.

Yeah, lots of businesses open at 5am!
Your point isn't wrong per se, but it's all arbitrary preferences. So if enough people prefer the extra daylight at the end of the day, then it's correct to mandate it.

I thought your argument was so people could enjoy daylight after work. What does no businesses being open at 5 AM have to do with that? Make up your rabbit-assed mind.

I seem to have missed the referendum on this subject. Can you point out when it happened and the vote breakdown?

And you would instead prevent them from doing that, instead forcing them to wake up at 5am to enjoy the daylight.
So I've proven your preference is a bit absurd.

It either happened some time in the past, or it just made so much common sense that they decided it would be a waste of money to hold one.

Be careful on the roads today. Apparently today is the day most road incidents occur.

It saves daylight for later. Stupid and wasteful not to do it, unless you live close to the equator.
You stated the above. Where does it save it? You can't cut a string in two, and take the top half, attach it to the bottom half and claim the string is longer.

RE: My twice a year public service
So, here's a thought experiment. Consider two neighbors that live next to one another on the border of the timeline from the Eastern Time Zone and the Central Time Zone. They are co-workers and work at the same place... in fact, they car pool together every day. They see the sun rise at the same instant every day, and they see the sun set at the same instant every day. However, for one of them, the sun rises at 7:00 am, and for the other one, the sun rises at 8:00 am.
Is one of them going to suffer because his sleep rhythm is out of sync?

Moves it from before people wake up to when they come home from work.

The trivial solution to your hypothetical is for the guy who lives on the "wrong" side of the line to just keep his clock synced to everyone else, where his job and the town are located.
There is no law forbidding you to set your clock different than everyone else.

Apparently one hour lost sleep makes people crash into all sorts of things.

Who knows. Just get up earlier if you want.
