I've always thought he was perfect in this 'role'....he's our Bobby 'darn' Eucker and "Whew-hoo mercy" Goodrich all wrapped up into one package...

"it looks like everyone in the Southern Jag's lineup is a threat to steal" - if it wasn't this, it was pretty close. was at the beginning of the game.

I like how they still say "we now serve a full lunch menu." Pretty sure that's been a thing since ~2011. Their ad probably hasn't changed since Todd McInnis was pitching on Friday nights.

"The Keg and Barrel in Hattiesburg is located on Hardy Street in a prehistoric home. We have been serving a full lunch menu for close to a decade now.”

I hate that they got rid of the Mississippi Youth Challenge ad for this season. "TAKE CONTROL OF YOUR LIFE NOW!!!!"

Have they started on it? Isn't it in the old Willy T's place?

I'd bet money that I won't.

Actually, knowing the hires that our athletic department makes, it wouldn't shock me if they somehow found someone worse.

If you're right, it won't have anything to do with Cox being that good.

Agreed. Listening to some of other teams announcers (thanks to BeagleUSM for posting video links) and hearing them makes me wish there was an option to choose Cox as the play by play. Half the time during the Marshall series I had to check to make sure I hadn’t muted the sound as there’d be 10-15 seconds of nothing.

Mute the video link and open up the USM TuneIn page and sync it up. That's what I do.

fwiw, if you can handle the delay between the audio/vid feeds, put the audio on your phone and the vid on your tv/cpu.....

as I mentioned previously in this thread, juan is our Eucker......for some reason that bothers folks.......I've alwasy viewed that as their problem.....

I think his dyslexic demeanor is endearing....he's 'out in the nasal clouds entertaining' that makes me laugh....and I enjoy laughing...

there's nothing easy about doing play-by-play/color or BOTH......he makes it fun in a variety of ways that a stuffed bow tied shirt never could.....

now if you attempt to have a frank personal conversation that could be construed as
'anTTTiestablishment', he turns into nastybunch......that's all I'm willing to say about that....

god bless ya juan....nuts zongo likes how you've handled business over time.....but I'm still gonna give you shite when req'd....

Not really a fair comparison.

I doubt that many other schools, especially in C-USA, have their primary or even secondary PBP announcer on baseball. Hell, some of them may not even be on radio and just have a student, SID, or local guy they could hire on the cheap for the live video.

That's why I was mainly agreeing to the original comment ”Man, we had it good when Cox was here”.....other schools have a student or someone who just doesn't have the baseball background. I do somewhat enjoy listening to the other team's announcer just to get their take on our team.

One of my all time "favorite" road game announcers was WKU last year when their radio guy game a 5 minute or so speech about the "outfield running track" (he brought this up as a ball was caught on the warning track). He proceeds to talk the next several minutes about the "running track" that goes along the outfield fence and how pitchers use it to get their conditioning in and luckily none of the pitchers were using it during said catch on the warning track as that could have made for an interesting play.

The announcer for Marshall seemed to fit that mold. He had a tendency to put a lot of inflection in his voice when a ball was in play. You would think every swing was a walk-off HR.

He also kept pronouncing Guidry, ɡo͞od-ree
