Unless it has been reopened or renovated since 2010...sander is not a dining hall. It's the crappiest building I ever took a class in.

Bolded, that question is the elephant in the room for sure. Loaded with history (and probably asbestos and lead too) it would seem a shame to demolish it but it serves little purpose in its current state. With all that has been rebuilt on campus the past 20 years, the few remaining buildings left untouched (Sander dining, Armory, Crosley Tower) really seem out of place.

Unless it has been reopened or renovated since 2010...sander is not a dining hall. It's the crappiest building I ever took a class in.

Sander was no longer a dining hall when I enrolled in 2006. It housed the African American studies and CAT program's at the time.

Largest structure ever constructed with a single, continuous concrete pour. If memory serves me correctly from one of the Greg Hand courses I took in the early 00's, they initially planned to have 4 of those running the edge of campus on MLK.

Crosley has so many code violations that if they did any interior work at all, they'd basically have to knock it all down (ie. why Sander was demolished). They have bathrooms in the stairwells because they couldn't put plumbing through the decks due to the method of construction, they have rooms with no electrical outlets, rooms with no external egress, doors that don't pass ADA compliance, and the internet is AWFUL in there. Add in the fact that it's an eyesore, and I don't know why it's even there now...outside of the fact that UC has a shortfall of office space to begin with, and removing that many more would make it damn near impossible to maintain any semblance of office surplus.

Has Fickell in 2yrs outrecruited Mick in 12yrs? In year 1 Fick got recruits on campus that had offers from To$u, Alabama, Penn st, Oklahoma, USC, etc.... When last time Mick went against KY, kansas, duke or NC for a player?

I've heard Crosley is atop the list for replacement. I've also heard demolition will be very difficult because of the poured concrete structure. An architectural nightmare, Crosley Tower is truly the (bad) gift that keeps on giving. Imagine a well designed 4 or 5 story building on that rolling hill facing MLK Jr. Drive? It could really enhance the appearance of campus in such a high visibility space along the busiest street.

Yeah, with it being all RIC, you'd basically have to sawcut the whole thing down. Explosive demolition is a virtual impossibility for a structure like that in a populated area, and that's without putting the structural congestion into thought. You'd have to include Helicopter MOBs for material removal which would be ridiculously costly and that doesn't even count the OSHA regulations for something like that basically requiring all pedestrian areas around that work to be closed which would essentially make getting to the DAAP building impossible.

There was a discussion (albeit a short one) that brought up the space where Wilson was previously located as a potential live and work space (residence hall plus studio space on each floor) exclusively for DAAP students. Crosley Tower's location would be a wonderful place for something like that.

That place was miserable on the inside. The perfect place to fit in the Economics department. A dismal building for the dismal science. At the time Urban Meyer's sis, G. Escoe was the head of the department.

Anyway, interesting fact that we're basically going to be stuck with that building being there forever.

Interesting question. I guess we won't be able to answer that until we see if Fickell and his staff are able to mold these high potential players into a winning team.

With that said, I think most of us here love Fickell's "can do" attitude in successfully going after highly rated players with lots of competing P5 offers. I don't get the impression he's afraid to ask for the order, as our friends in sales professions say. And recruiting is certainly selling.

Even though football and basketball are vastly different scenarios, it's exciting to sign guys with Big Ten and ACC offers. When compared to wooing transfers with offers from UAB, Buffalo or USF in basketball, it would suggest Fickell's recruiting is better.

Can we go five minutes without talking about Mick's recruits, JFC. Basketball recruiting is a completely different animal.

That being said Fickell has us closer to the Dantonios and the Kellys than the Tubervilles and Jones, atleast on paper.

This is understated, but I really do see a lot of Dantonio in Fickell...at least in the way the program is being organized and the "where we were to where we're going" roadmap.

Makes a lot of sense, Luke Fickell is heavily influenced directly or indirectly by guys from the Earl Bruce coaching tree: Dantonio, Jim Tressel, Fred Pagac, Nick Saban, Glen Mason and Dom Capers. All are guys he either played for, coached with, have a close association with, etc.
