A Permanent Home for the AAC Basketball Championship Tournament
Now that the MVC has lost WSU and the MVC Tournament location is probably in jeopardy, how about the American approaching St Louis for an AAC Arch Madness? It fits geographically (midpoint of AAC) and I'm pretty sure the TV Networks would like it.
Let that one bid MVC make the adjustment and rotate sites or pick a different out of the way city/venue.
That would be a best case scenario for the "NEW" AAC imo.
We need this!

The central location sounds good but I don't think St Louis has much interest in the AAC. I think maybe alternating sites between an East and West location yearly might keep more fans happy. As far as a central location, New Orleans maybe fun for the fans but Tulane only draws a handful of people during the year so I'm not sure of the interest level there........but at least it is kind of a central location that the fans might travel to.

RE: A Permanent Home for the AAC Basketball Championship Tournament
My thinking on throwing St Louis in was that the MVC may now lose that city as a destination with waning national interest in it. WO WSU there will be a needed move to a cheaper Valley site imo. Maybe not now, but in the near future. I think the first thing we may see is the contract payout for the Valley being reduced. If and when that occurs the proceeds will almost certainly force the MVC to rearrange their St Louis contract. They need to face the fact that losing WSU will kill interest in the title game since they will be just a one bid league with a resulting bad seed every year. So there should be an interest gap to fill and the AAC out there looking for a better home. I could even see a bidding war between the two leagues eventually happening that the MVC will lose.
Another thing to ponder is that we have several members that used to be in the MVC, not just WSU, so there is at least a distant connection.
From our standpoint, St Louis could easily tie the two sections of the league nicely together as a final destination.
This would't happen immediately, but in the not too distant future.
Just my opine.
