Was there a pre/post or halftime performance that drew fans or was this purely a soccer crowd?

Purely a Soccer crowd. Though the home opener was a significant help. They've put 70K crowds together before for MLS games.

They need a dress code for managers in the EPL....Stoke City's manager is wearing some shat brand track/sweat suit so ugly a fat New Jersey mobster wouldn't wear it.

Big Night for MLS: NY Red Bulls destroy Club Tijuana 5-1 on aggregate and Toronto FC advances past Liga MX Champ Tigres UANL 4-4 on away goals to make the CCL Semifinals.

Seattle takes a 1-0 lead down to Chivas tomorrow with a chance to make it 3 MLS teams in the Semis.

In UEFA Champions League news. Man United are out. Lost at home 2-1 to Sevilla.

Not sure how that happened, but not bad for a fifth place La Liga team with a negative goal differential.

Courtois has to retire now. Nutmegged twice by Messi. Has to retire. It's written in the Laws of FIFA

If that's the case then Marcelo is the Brett Favre of La Liga.

Yeah, I don't get all the Courtois hate. He admitted the first mistake but when Messi hits beast mode there's not much any goalkeeper can do to stop him. Facing a well rested (Messi was off last weekend due to the birth of his third son) and an evidently motivated Messi equals a bad day for any opposition.

on the second goal, Messi megged him from 10 yards away on a bad angle. That's on Courtois too.

The dude is 6/6'' I imagine it's hard to "be big" without spreading the legs somewhat. Messi has done similar to better goalkeepers so I'll just chalk it up to Messi being Messi. I do have to wonder if yesterday will impact Courtois's desire to move to Spain, etc... Overall I think Chelsea played well.

I was curious as to how much UEFA Champions League teams earn per match/win and how the money is allocated. The money is divided into two pots: performance based and market based. I did find it odd that last year even though Real Madrid won the Champions League, it was Juventus that won the most money.

See link below is interested.

Amazing how all of the big boys avoided each other. Were they split up in pools?

So you saying Manchester and City and Liverpool aren't big boys? j/k

Madrid is playing Juve so there's two giants right there. Usually Madrid gets the easy draw and Barca gets the toughest. I remember last Barca treble season Barca had to play and beat every league champion to advance. You have to think; however, that UEFA is salivating over a possible El Clasico final though.

Barca, Real(on better form in Europe), Bayern, and Man City are the biggest boys right now. I think Juve is that one step below those teams this season.

I can see that but still a big name and great club. I think the Man City/Liverpool match is the most exciting. Been a while since England has had anything to cheer about in CL. Kind of sucks that one will be knocked out by the other though. Madrid is dangerous as they are, IMO, solely concentration on CL as that is the only trophy they can win this season. They need that money to go after Neymar.

I think over 2 legs Man City takes care of them as long as their back 4 can stay healthy.

The Real-Juve is, to me, the obvious marquis matchup. Not only due to the size and history of the clubs but the divergent playing styles.

Europa League draw kept the Red Bull teams separate. I’m kinda hoping they both make the finals just to see r/soccer meltdown haha

So...One thing I learned today. Swansea's not very good without Ayew, Ayew, King, Fernandez, and Fabianksi.

Of course going up with our backups against Spurs top line was probably going to be problematic to start with, but I wish we'd have at least given a better accounting of ourselves. We're just sort of going through the motions out there.

Oh well...at least this uses up one match of Jordan Ayew's 3 match ban.
