Belgium is the best team, easily. Lukaka (sp?) is the by far best player.

That said, I'm not saying that they'll end up winning it. I can see them losing in a situation where they put more time on the clock so that Germany can win.

Or, losing on PK's where their goalie... keeper... guesses wrong one more time than the other.

England did some really terrible things to Panama in a 6-1 win. The idea that we somehow screwed up enough to let a team as bad as Panama in the World Cup is incredibly annoying. They don't belong on the same field as England and Belgium.

It's what happens when your team plays 1 person whose best days are potentially ahead of them.

Plus and own goal.

Poland is the first European team eliminated after losing 3-0 to Colombia. Colombia must beat Senegal on Thursday to advance.

In other news, Mo Salah is threatening to quit the Egyptian National Team. Apparently Russia intentionally stuck their base camp in Chechnya, and has been using state run media to broadcast how happy Salah is there. The Chechnyan "Leader" keeps stopping by for "visits" and honored him at a dinner and everything. He's not a big fan of being used for political gain, and feels that Egypt is hanging him out to dry allowing it to happen.

Side note, sticking one of the most popular soccer players in the world in a disputed region that you "claim" control of, and constantly running your regional leaders out for surprise "visits" with said star while your state run media just happens to be nearby is a very Putin thing to do.

As for why he chose to broadcast this now and not wait until after they got safely out of Russia, I have no idea. Putin can make someone "disappear" by simply snapping his fingers.

Yep, they are such try hards. It's one of the reasons I can't stand to watch the MLS.

The Mexican pairing for FOX is awesome tho

The loser of the England-Belgium game might be in a better position in the KO stages. Looks like Japan will finish first and either Senegal-Colombia will be second in Group H

So the 2nd place team in that group will get Japan in the Round of 16 and probably the Mexico-Switzerland winner in the QFs. The winner in theory would get Senegal-Colombia in the R16 and Germany-Brazil in the QFs.

BTW, Can we talk about how awesome a Germany-Brazil R16 game would be?

Our U23 team would have put forth a better effort against England than you guys did.

Our Senior Roster probably would have lost 10-0...but that's because those guys stink.

France and Denmark came into the game needing a draw to advance, and exactly that happened. They play to the first 0-0 draw of the World Cup and get booed off the pitch by both sets of fans.

France wins the group and sets up a potential match with Argentina in the Hell side of the Round of 16. Argentina must beat Nigeria today to earn that spot though.

I'm thinking these two games are going to be intense. Argentina and Iceland both need wins and will be playing as such, and Nigeria need to draw to advance.

Argentina score in the last 5 minutes to beat Nigeria 2-1. Iceland got a goal to pull level with Croatia with 20 minutes left, but they had to push men forward for the win, and an understrength Croatia scored the winner. 2-1 Final.

Croatia wins the group and will face Denmark on Sunday
Argentina finishes runner up and faces France on Saturday

Congrats France on winning your group, your reward is you have to get through Argentina, Portugal, Uraguay, Brazil, and Germany to get to the Final. Good Luck!

I loved the way they broke the tie between Spain and Portugal. Spain played nicer.

Spain won the group because they scored 1 more goal than Portugal. The first tiebreaker is goal differential and both teams were at +1.

Don't doubt Maradona's love, they had to call a paramedic for him after the game. . And he was talking trash to the peanut gallery all game.

That man loves Argentina with every fiber of his being.

Sweden did literally EVERYTHING they could to help Germany through, giving them a FK in the danger zone in stoppage time to win their game then pummeling Mexico, and the Germans STILL couldn't get it done. Part of me wanted to see Germany win just to figure out who would take the land where Mexico stood once all of the citizens jumped into the sea 03-lmfao
