It sounds as though the town hall will be unscripted and questions will be wide open. I find that hard to believe. Regardless, Comey is an experienced public figure so I'm sure he will be able to do the political 2 step with his responses. I would think he gets some tough questions, but much of it will be towards promoting his book. I have a feeling that a certain segment of America will pick through his responses convinced that there is proof of deep state cover up & collusion.

Or maybe our little Eagle Scout will finally unmask all that Russian Collusion we have spent more than a year trying to tie around the Presidents neck.

Of course, we have sleaze Anderson Cooper in the house too. Maybe he will ask some condom questions. Who knows, Donna Brazille might feed some advance questions.

I believe you should get a mixed crowd of libs and cons. It is primarily a student crowd, so I'd definitely expect a lib majority. I don't think you will get a lot of the MAGA crowd. Will it be hard hitting? I think it will have some tough questions, but not be adversarial. If it is only a friendly softball discussion, I think it does CNN and Comey a disservice. The hard right won't be happy regardless because I don't think they will go into conspiracy theories being floated about. Or, maybe they will give him a chance to deny them? Regardless of what he says or if he did right or wrong, there is nothing that he can say to make the hard right sympathize or believe him. Everybody wants to make accusations about what Comey was doing, thinking, or intending. It might actually make sense to hear his take on events. Like or hate Comey, I think it should be interesting.

I don't consider myself hard left, so I can't speak to their conspiracy beliefs. I think I'm more of a left leaning moderate. I think everything is open for investigation in high public office if wrong doing is suspected. Let IG Horowitz do his investigation. Let Mueller do his investigation. The problem, for both sides, is the far right/left won't accept the findings as unbiased if it doesn't back up their claims. I'm not going to claim Trump colluded with Russians if I don't really know. Likewise, I'm not going to brand Comey a criminal because politically motivated talking heads have said so. There are questions for both men. Let the professionals charged with investigating present their findings.

Of course both sides are already angling at bias in the investigations. Perhaps that means they are doing a good job.

The real opportunity is that we actually get a chance to question Comey live in primetime. I doubt we get a similar opportunity to question Trump live and unscripted. Some will tune in for answers. Some will tune in for soundbites to use against him. All a part to play in the political circus.

From the volume of the posts, I think it's safe to put Comey as the #2 all-time alumnus, firmly behind Thomas Jefferson. The greater the number of posts in this thread, the more I'm convinced W&M made the right move by having him do whatever started this discussion.
