Well at least they have won not one, but TWO NCAA Div. I football national championships. Something that will never happen at Georgia State, let along the mythical BSCFP.

I sure Georgia State is just devastated they'll never play in the FCS playoff extravaganza.

My basketball team won the NIT two years ago. It was fun. It was also largely ignored.

At this rate, Georgia State won't get to play in that coveted Nobody Cares Weed Eater Bowl as well! Great job GSU in trying to make a great impression at your new crib! 05-nono

And congrats on your...loss? You lost your game? oh. So you're just a jerk that doesn't understand irony?

Not trying to stir the pot but I can see a lot of empty chair backs in those stadium shots. I think turnstile attendence was considerably lower than sold ticket figures.

With that being said, I hope GA St can right the ship and get some wins this season in their new home.

I thought the stadium looked pretty good, if not awkward since it wasn't designed to be a football stadium.

Actually, Georgia State has played in a FBS bowl. I'll bet more people watched that on TV than any FCS game Sac State has played in.
What IS a Scaramento State? Psychological condition? Prison?

I thought the commonality was being FBS and not being named after a not so famous President.

James Madison may not be famous anymore but he's still the shortest President ever.

James Madison is famous, he's not exactly Rutherford B. Hayes.

Apologies in advance for the thread-jack.

Madison has a name that is -- I guess -- still broadly recognized, although I'd be honestly curious what % of US people can accurately report or describe anything -- Anything at All -- about him or his life.

Hayes is just downright obscure. Barely remembered even within Ohio and a non-person everywhere else.

About a year ago, I was talking to a middle-class college graduate who grew up in the United States, probably 25-27 yrs. old (so I'm guessing, born approx. 1989-91). There was a magazine or book that had a photograph of President Nixon standing on the Great Wall of China in 1972. I asked if she recognized the person in the photograph. His face was clearly visible in the photo. The other person's reply: "George Bush?" With a couple more questions, I was able to figure out that she was referring to Bush/41 not Bush/43. I let the matter drop.

I think that for those of us who are interested in history and try to make some effort to pay, at least, a little bit of attention to politics or what's going on in the world, it really is difficult to grasp just how utterly unaware the rest of the population is to that sort of thing. God knows, they never learned that stuff in school or college, and they simply don't care enough or have the time, to search it out on their own. To them, "history" is anything that happened before their own lifetime. And anything that happened before their parents were born might as well be the dawn of time.

It's inevitable. The statues of James Madison are simply going to have to come down.

Dolly Madison, maybe she can get a pass for being female.

RE: Ga State home kickoff crowd
Remember the opening season is not a good indicator of support - it's often 100% or even 200% inflated. Year three will tell you what the real level of fan support is, once the novelty wears off.

24K is thus a scary low number for a first FBS home game. It suggests core support may as low as 8K, but probably closer to 10-12K. But it's a long time until years 3 and 4 when that will be confirmed.

James Madison is only "not so famous" among imbeciles and the unread, so I'm not surprised in the least he doesn't rank among your Duck Dynasty and Kardashian heroes. They probably didn't have time to squeeze in courses about the founding fathers and US Constitution over there at the Atlanta City Night School, among their more popular courses like Reading Without Moving Your Lips and Walmart Etiquette 101.
