Good point! Folks shouldn't start celebrating so early as we don't know what other schools are involved yet.

From an article on yahoo:

While only four schools are currently involved, the complaints will provide a treasure map for NCAA investigators as it tells stories of endless payouts and kickbacks in the recruitment of numerous top prospects over the past three years.
And that’s before any of the involved agree to cooperate with authorities.

Former NCAA official told me today this could end up as the biggest college sports story of our lifetime. "It's also the least surprising."

This has links to the actual (and highly detailed, including the FBI agent's affidavit) complaint against Chuck Person (Auburn) and a couple of others:

https://www.justice.gov/usao-sdny/pr/pre...advisory-2

This is way beyond NCAA violations, this is pound-you-in-the-ass-federal-prison stuff.

This criminal interviewed for the UAB head job last time.

Many reports said 10 schools. But the source I cited only named Auburn and Oklahoma State, so I can't speculate. Nonetheless the schools using Adidas shoes are probably all in FBI's investigation.

Is it a big deal that coaches got the kickback from Adidas? I believe Nike and Underarmor should have given other coaches some benefits under the table for using their shoes.

Did you even bother to read the source that you cited? It literally says:

The FBI arrested 10 people on charges of fraud and corruption in college basketball on Tuesday.
The Department of Justice announced Tuesday that  college basketball coaches at University of Arizona, Auburn, University of Southern California, and Oklahoma State University had been arrested, as well as managers, financial advisors, and representatives of a major international sportswear company.

Quote:Is it a big deal that coaches got the kickback from Adidas?

LOL, Seriously? Theres a reason that the FBI is involved.

Whenever theres an unfair advantage given to some its going to be illegal in the NCAA. Their theory is that everyone should be playing by the same rules.

The first report I heard saying it involved 10 schools are from CNBC. So I Googled the topic, the link is from one of the Google results that appear to have more substance.

And yes, I read it. It is just businessinsider modified the story after gaining more information.

Anyone who WAS NOT leery of how the shoe companies were targeting kids long before college was just choosing to not be suspicious.

And Arizona and Southern California, and possibly soon Louisville and Miami coaches too.

If apparel companies were doing this to gain product placement for basketball then when the FBI quits pulling on the thread of the basketball jerseys they are libel to find them attached to football jerseys as well.

This is going to be the tip of the iceberg and the unraveling is probably going to lead to top programs everywhere and across the various sports.

Companies like Russell have really suffered from the onslaught of Nike and Adidas and Under Armour made inroads very quickly in the South. If a major corporation bribes players to attend certain schools that is so far beyond local boosters paying players that such crimes pale in comparison by degree.

"Hey, I'm the Adidas rep in the area and if you want the nation's #1 prospect as a signee then you need to know that he is lined up with us and your school needs to represent our line and you'll get him! And just to show you what kind of good guys we are we'll funnel you some on the side too!"

It's just another representation of how organized crime tactics have taken over corporate America. But if you think this is bad just remember too big to fail.

We'll divide up mortgages into derivatives and sell parts of them everywhere so they become untraceable. It will inflate our balance sheets giving us more leverage with which to buy out smaller banks and increase our power. Even if we don't have the cash reserves to cover it we will have the credit to override our shortages. At least we can do that until.....other large banks overseas don't trust us and then "Oh #$%#!"

But thank God the politicians owe us for all of the PAC and Lobby money we've thrown their way. Sorry mortgage holders and taxpayers but "We're too big to fail!" So the banks get paid twice for one bill. The taxpayers cover the delinquent mortgages and then the banks still foreclose the properties and sell them later collecting the profits for themselves. The taxpayers are never repaid, the taxes remain on the books, and the crooks win because everyone at the government level profits from their graft.

So my question is why since government works the same way and is more important than sports are we starting with Adidas and Nike? Why not start with Goldman Sachs?

The link you posted also stated Southern Cal and Arizona.

They added Southern Cal and Arizona in the latest edition. When I first read the story from businessinsider, they only named OSU and Auburn. Not just them, at that time, many sites only named Auburn and OSU. Otherwise, I would have included all four schools.

How many Adidas/Nike execs are in the current president's cabinet? And how many speeches did they pay his rival to give in secret? How many Adidas/Nike lawyers work in the SEC (the real SEC, not the foobaw one) or US Atty's office, and how many SEC/USA attys plan to exit the revolving door to Adidas/Nike?

When you play the game of thrones, you have to make sure you bribe ALL the right people, including the ones who can hurt you, not just the ones who can help you.

I'm sympathetic with this outlook.

In a world of criminals these people are small fish.

It makes me feel very secure that the FBI and government heavies are wasting their time on this bull**** as opposed to going after real criminals.

I wonder what school from Kentucky they could be talking about?....hmmm...
Louisville should be done. First hookers and now bribes while on probation. I'm sure Pitino is "shocked" at the allegations and knew nothing about this

Eastern Kentucky University is nervous right now.

This type of comment is pathetic.

It is a long standing joke...you either don't realize it or need to relax and enjoy the humor.
