6. Appalachian State - Have a soft spot for them. I used to play NCAA Football 2006 a lot, and brought App. State up from FCS to play in FBS. Built up their program and won them a Nat'l Title after the third season.

I think it's much easier for me to list teams I root against rather than teams I root for.

1) UA: Alum
2) Louisiana: From Lafayette
3) LSU: From Louisiana

Minnesota, Bemidji State, Concordia-St. Paul, St. Thomas(MN)
Anyone vs. Wisconsin(except in postseason)
B1G, NSIC, MIAC, UMAC in NCAA postseason.
Anyone vs. Duke(Men's Basketball only)

1. Auburn
2. SEC Schools over any other.
3. In Conference my family is a member of WHALE (We Hope Alabama Loses Every-time!)
4. I have been known to pull for L.S.U. Mississippi State, and South Carolina when they aren't playing Auburn.
L.S.U. because of Charlie Mac (old habit)
Mississippi State because those folks deserve some success.
South Carolina because by God they aren't Georgia / Florida / or Tennessee.

For me ... I root for, in order:

Georgia Tech
Whoever is playing U[sic]GA
(gap)
The ACC out of conference, all teams
Whoever is playing Notre Dame
Red states over blue states
Academics and military (AFA, USN, Army, NW, Stanford, Duke, Rice)

All ACC schools and Notre Dame
All SEC schools
All AAC schools
Any school playing B1G school
Any school playing PAC school except Southern Cal

Besides Rice, my priorities are:

Notre Dame - started rooting for them when daughter went off to there
I'll root for the small private school over Enormous State
Sam Houston State - 8 relatives went there
Navy over Army - all my life and I have no idea why
I now root for Kentucky to fail at everything due to one irritating poster on another board

ECU - hard to watch these days, but I suffer through it. Have had season tickets since 2009, so I'm not able to watch many games on TV when ECU has a home game as I'm driving/tailgating.

Georgia Tech - My dad's alma mater, grew up going to homecoming every year and then all games at Wake/Duke/NCSU/UNCheat after moving to NC as a teenager.

When those two aren't playing, I watch other AAC games.


All of that is pretty rational, I guess.

2) Any G5 playing a P5
3) Any underdog playing a favored team
4) Any team geographically closer to me playing one further away
5) Anyone playing The Great Satan of Crapass Hell

I'm from the UK (not Kentucky) so have no real connection

I chose a college from each of the larger conferences

ACC Syracuse, Orange was an unusual moniker
PAC UCLA, liked their blue, also the were the anti USC
Big Ten MSU again the anti wolverine
SEC Texas AM & Auburn because they are not Texas & not Bama

TexasAM really from Big XII days but carried through to SEC

After these it's whoever is playing tOSU, Michigan, Norte Dame, UNC, Texas, USC, Bama

Miami - Alma mater



MAC vs Everyone Else - Us winning makes this site a lot more fun
Illinois - Dad/sister/uncle went there, grew up a fan



Kansas State - Grandpa went there, always liked Snyder
Lafayette (PA) - My other grandpa played there in the thirties
Mizzou - Brother goes there, points deducted for political shenanigans
Academies - Partial to Army

USF - Just from living in Tampa, casual interest at the most

Casual rooting for most any North Carolina school (pretty much any school except Duke basketball/but will root for Duke football)

Both parents and a ton of extended family went to UNC and I grew up watching A LOT of UNC basketball.
NC ST, Wake, ECU - have a few extended family as graduates.
