Is there ANY TV for CAA Basketball this year?
One of the fixtures ever year on CAA Basketball Media Day was the press release of the upcoming TV schedule. Each year they would announce that this was one of the best TV packages ever. This year, there was no announcement, and there is nothing posted on the CAA website yet.

While the power conferences have made every game for both men's and women's basketball available on national TV or a major streaming service, it seems like the CAA has just abandoned TV altogether.

Even in the age of streaming, TV is still the main method of exposure and engaging the casual sports fans. Seems to me like our new commissioner has taken the CAA 180 degrees backwards. If the TV exposure is as poor as it appears right now, the CAA could be taking a backwards turn toward the bottom of Division I basketball.

In the New York City area, MSG Plus shows the Big 12 and YES shows the ACC. https://www.sny.tv/info/winter-sports-schedule is SNY's "Winter sports schedule" that hasn't been changed from 2016-2017. Hofstra had games with local announcers many years ago. After having only 4 televised games last season including 66 consecutive days without being on TV, Hofstra will have at least 3 out of conference games on TV, but I will be disappointed if none of the CAA games are on TV. As more TV channels are created, I wonder if any conference has had a bigger decline in games on TV than the CAA.

CofC will likely have 8-10 games via the Charleston Sports Network (Channel 36 OTA in Charleston), and we have the Wichita State game on CBSSN. The Great Alaska Shootout is on FloHoops, which is all pay (I believe $30 a month).

JMU football fans will be able to best answer that question

Worst TV deal in league history. I believe that even in the 90's before Drexel was in the conference, they had a deal with HTS to broadcast games regularly. Even the old NAC/America East in the 90's had games on local/regional TV on occasion. And there were fewer sports channels back then than there are now.

There will be no Drexel games on any actual television channels this year. I've been rooting for Drexel for 27 years and this has never happened before.

I'm glad that at least all of the games can be streamed for free and watched on TV. However, only those who specifically want to go out of their way to watch a specific game will tune in via streaming. There are lots of fans out there in front of their TV sets who just want to watch a basketball game. Without games on TV, you lose a lot of potential viewers.

Delaware has announced 3 more of their own produced games will air on NBC Sports Philadelphia (Elon, Towson, Drexel), with two of the games live on SNY, one on delay.

How is the Drexel-William & Mary game not on TV?

Why would that game be more likely to be on TV than other games?

If Drexel were smart and gave an eff, they'd beg the league and Hofstra to bump tipoff to 2 PM on Saturday, else there may only be 200 in attendance.

Maybe the NFL shouldn't be scheduling playoff games around Drexel Basketball games. If the NFL were smart, they'd move the Eagles/Falcons game to 6:30.

No reason we shouldn’t have a national TV game on tonight or at least on some Thursdays. CBSSN is carrying 6-9 Tennessee State at 6-9 Eastern Illinois tonight at 7 o’clock. No reason there shouldn’t be a CAA game there in that slot.

CBSSN is carrying 7 OVC games while ESPNU has 7 more. That’s 14 games on national TV for a league with only regional interest in mostly smaller towns in KY/TN/IN/IL, while the CAA, playing in major metropolitan areas, has almost no TV exposure.

It is rather crazy CBS SN chose to deal with OVC over CAA especially after we moved our tournament to terrible nights for him.

Yeager took a lot of heat but the sad state of our media outlets would not be allowed under his watch

RE: Is there ANY TV for CAA Basketball this year?
The loss of the NBC Sports Regional deal was the biggest blow. That was the bread and butter of the league since way before the northern teams joined on and the games were on HTS. There's an NBC Sports affiliate in almost every CAA market. The larger power conferences all have deals with the national sports networks, so their games aren't on NBCS. NBA and NHL games are not aired every night, so each affiliate usually has 2 channels with a lot of dead air time. I'm glad that Delaware stepped up and put their game feed on NBC Sports Philadelphia last night on what was a dead air night for the network. But there's really no reason why the CAA shouldn't continue to air games regularly on the network.

RE: Is there ANY TV for CAA Basketball this year?
Comcast was probably losing money on the package so that was why they cut it. Last year, they had 7 regular season games, but all were from Towson, William & Mary, and one from Delaware, the 3 closest programs to Washington. Al Koken had done the games for years, but NBC probably wanted him to do all Caps duties.

ASN had 9 other games, as they were uber-cheap, broadcasting most of their games from a studio last year.

Locally in Charleston we had 7 more CofC games on MyTV (John Kresse was one of the announcers). That’s 23 games we lost availability to.

The OVC has 12 teams, and only one of them has a better RPI than the sixth best RPI in the CAA.
