Auburn is clearly the new dark horse. The Tigers must be salivating at the chance at having two more chances of knocking off top ten teams.

Wisco needs to just take care of business since we still have a lot more twists and turns. Are they helped more by beating Iowa or Ohio State smashing Michigan State? Mississippi State could've done the Big Ten a huge favor but that didn't happen.

Right now it looks like the remaining drama is between Clemson and Miami not dropping any more games before the CCG, Oklahoma and the Big XII and Bama/Auburn/Georgia.

If Wisconsin beats Michigan and Ohio State they're in, provided they don't drop the easier game.

We'll get 1 out of the ACC and 1 out of the SEC. Oklahoma's spot is their's to lose. If they do lose, or if Wisconsin stumbles that's probably the only way some conference gets 2 in.

I agree, ACC and SEC are pretty much guaranteed to get a spot this year with Oklahoma and Wisconsin controlling their own destiny. If both those teams win out then I think we see

ACC - Miami or Clemson
SEC - Bama or Georgia
Wisconsin
Miami

Could be interesting if say Auburn wins the SEC at 10-2 would a 12-1 Miami get in and leave the SEC out assuming they only have a close loss to Clemson in the ACC title game.

In your scenario Alabama is 11-1 with the only loss to SEC champ Auburn. The Tide would be tempting to the committee, but I still think the SEC just gets one team.

The classic trap game has happened! Pitt beats Miami, 24-14. Last night, Ole Miss beats Mississippi State, which might affect the rankings of Alabama/Auburn somewhat but not enough to adversely affect them.

Yeah, exactly. Almost feel like I need to root for Wisconsin to win just so the B1G has a representative in the CFP. Ohio State wins and the B1G is probably toast.

Oklahoma wins and in. Clemson or Miami wins and in. Auburn or Georgia wins and in. However, if Georgia wins and Ohio St blows out Wisconsin (like 59-0), Ohio St has an okay shot at #4.

1. Clemson
2. Auburn
3. Oklahoma
4. Wisconsin
5. Alabama
6. Georgia
7. Miami
8. Ohio State
9. Penn State

So this is what we see this week. Delany is having to root for Wisconsin in secret, it seems.

ACC champion is in, loser is out

Oklahoma wins XII and is in, loses and XII is out
Wisconsin wins B1G and is in, loses and Ohio St might be in

Scenarios (after ACC/SEC champions)...

Oklahoma wins, Wisconsin wins - both in
Oklahoma wins, Ohio St wins close - Oklahoma in, toss up between Ohio St and Alabama
Oklahoma wins, Ohio St wins blow out - both in
Wisconsin wins, TCU wins - Wisconsin and Alabama in
Ohio St wins, TCU wins - Ohio St and Alabama in

This to me will be the most interesting scenario for the committee if it happens. Of course it will depend on the games itself (close, blowouts, or other committee favorites like potential body clock issues 04-chairshot or key injuries 01-lauramac2)

But I will be curious how they treat a 11-2 conference title Ohio State who lost to OU in Columbus and got blown out by Iowa against a Oklahoma team that won in Columbus, lost to Iowa State (better loss than either ACC contenders losses), and lost to a TCU team at a neutral site whom they already beat fairly easily in Norman earlier in November.

Frankly if OU loses a very close game, I think they have a really good chance of getting in over Ohio State unless Wisconsin roles over and takes it for their mighty Big 10 overlords like they did in 2014.

A perfect storm to force a discussion on changes? One the one hand you have a conference champion who has two losses but on the other you have a non champion with just one loss who would use the same argument that because the first team had the benefit of being a one-loss non champion over a two-loss champion last year that they, too, should have the same benefit regardless.

God help us!

RE: CFP Just Got A Lot More Complicated
The committee is in a conundrum. It is obvious that Clemson and Oklahoma are locks. Georgia is probably a lock.

Does the committee penalize Auburn for their loss to Georgia, a team they already stomped in the season? They would have three losses which would be a first but they also were ranked #2 prior to the loss.

Is Alabama the last in after being ranked 5th and having two teams lose ahead of them? I don't really care for their schedule. They are getting way too much credit for beating Florida State who just gave up on their season after that loss. It's hard to determine how well they would have done with their starting quarterback for the whole season but they are a P5 king in a recruiting jackpot who should have had capable replacements.

USC is a conference winner, though unimpressive and likely the worst P5 conference. Still, an argument can be made.

In my mind, I think the last spot comes down to Alabama, Auburn, and Ohio State. We may have a result like back in the very first playoff where Auburn's win over Alabama eliminates the Crimson Tide so Ohio State being a two-loss conference champion elevates them above a three-loss non-champion. Back in the first playoff, Baylor, TCU, and Ohio State were fighting over the last pick and it resulted in OSU's since Baylor beat TCU in the season and eliminated them but had a horrible OOC schedule and propelled OSU ahead.

People are going really hard on OSU for the loss to Iowa. Iowa is a good program, finished 7-5, and has a coach that has been there for a long time while winning conference championships and NY6 bowls. Nobody is giving Auburn crap for losing to LSU who lost to Troy.

I'm torn on what I want to happen. On one hand, I don't want the Big Ten shut out of the playoffs for the first time, and I don't want the SEC to have two participants. On the other hand, revenge is a dish best served cold and Ohio State can suck it for taking Penn State's spot last year.

U have a 2 loss champ with a blow out loss to a mediocre school. They should not be considered. Like the Pac 12, B10 does not deserve a bid this year.
There will not be an 8 team playoff until this contract is up.
Ga, Clemson, Ok ., and Ala.

I don’t think Bama deserved a bid either, they didn’t play anyone worth noting except who they lost to.

I agree the foundation was laid last year when Ohio State got in ahead of Penn State. The CFP has already devalued conference championships too much, IMO. The only way to fix that may be auto bids for the P5 champs.

RE: CFP Just Got A Lot More Complicated
You also need the committee to be made up of equal representation from each of the P5 leagues. This is whether it remains a 4 team playoff or goes to a 8 team playoff where only the 5 conference champions are guaranteed a spot.

I would actually prefer a playoffs where each league received a playoff birth for every 4 or 5 teams it has, and the choices are made strictly by the conference standings. You wouldn't have teams getting overlooked due to tv ratings and bias and you would encourage great non-conference games because it would prepare teams for the conference season.
