UNT: New Track/Soccer Facility Finished- Photos
Saturday, before the ODU game, the North Texas athletic department broke ground on a new track and field stadium. Here is the story from the Denton Record Chronicle.

North Texas has long featured one of the top women's soccer programs in Conference USA and a track and field program with a storied history.

UNT officials expressed confidence in both teams' opportunity to become even better Saturday when the school held a ceremonial groundbreaking for a new venue for both programs.

The new stadium located near the Mean Green Athletic Center and Waranch Tennis Complex will feature a track, soccer field, seating for 1,500 and a 14,000-square-foot fieldhouse.

Sure would be nice if UNT would start a baseball team. Marshall doesn't even have a true home field for baseball, but they can field a team anyway.

There will be a ribbon cutting ceremony for the new Soccer/Track facility after the Spring Game. Here are a couple of photos of the finished venue.

Why are you posting this off topic article in this thread? You could go start a troll thread if that is your goal in life.

Trying to get back on topic, Rice re-did its track/soccer stadium a few years back and I think they totally messed up the seating. Here's an image of the old stadium (which was old - circa 1950 and certainly needed updating).

[Image: rice-soccer-trackaerial-b-art1*750xx640-361-0-7.jpg]

I can't figure out how to link the new seating arrangement, but it's on this Google page. The seating is now configured okay for soccer, although the middle section goes a bit too high in comparison to the ends. But the track part is useless, most of the seats are now further than ever from the finish line. I don't even know the point of having a track stadium if you can't actually sit at the finish line (I think in Rice's case now, the seating ends about 5 or 10 yards before the finish line).

The stadium looks nice with great views of the surrounding areas. I see what you mean about the stands. Much better than the old stands but it would be nice if they extended a bit on both ends. Overall a really nice looking facility.
