Hey, money doesn't grow on trees for the University of Memphis. It is a real struggle for the school. They just gave the head football coach (and some assistants) a big raise. Obviously, choices have to be made as to where the money goes. Would we feel better if they had not boosted MN salary and instead put it into the IPF? It going take steps to get it all done.

Hey I totally understand the economics. I just think the communication from the beginning has been poor.

Is the the 3rd January in a row we have heard this? And holding it up 7 weeks for changes by Coach? They must be major to hold up site and foundation work.

YEP---I am glad we are making changes for M.N.----but it has been bait and switch/cry wolf/deceitful . Telling donors that something will begin and then does not---not good.

Not unless the changes in question affect site work-highly unlikely-or foundation plan set-unlikely at this juncture that Coach Norvell would be allowed to do that. If minor change orders required what you stated, the damn thing would never get built. Plans are layered for a reason.

This town will only show up to an IPF construction if we are winning.

Where I work, they have been trying to build a new Dr.s building for 2yrs and every time they entice a new tenant to sign on they want to have there two cents in on the design. In the middle of the third redraw right now. It is what it is but there are faster ways.

Perhaps now is the time for the Admin. to step in and say "that's it. No more changes. Start laying out batter boards!" since Coach just signed an extension?

FWIW, being in the construction and design industry for over 30 years, I can tell you, if you can avoid starting a project until you KNOW no more changes will be made, you do. It doesn't matter if no changes will be made to the foundation (although a LOT of changes people don't think will affect the foundation actually DO - beam footings - point loads added). You don't want to do a lot of biologic clearing only to have the exposed dirt turn to mud, especially this time of year.

Absolutely, just because Timmy the Tendonitis Dr. is coming in ,it doesn't mean he should be able to change the whole entrance to the dang building. Carpet and paint in his office does NOT take a three month change order.

RE: IFP Construction
The existing indoor turf room was built in 1970 and was 6 years old when I got to campus in ‘76. I’ve been waiting for facilities upgrades for over 3/4 of my life. I don’t consider the band-aid that RC put on it (with the turf room fire insurance settlement proceeds) as legitimate capital improvements or facilities upgrades.

Like Shooter said, it’s time to sh*t or get off the pot. Ground was supposedly “broken” three quarters ago and I’m doubtful the first footing has been poured for the actual IPF.

Sorry to be a squeaky wheel. Does anybody have a link to recent construction update/commitments for IPF? I do not have a twitter account. Would someone be willing to tweet Dr Rudd?

ND, Bowen was on sports56 talking about it today. Was very frustrated with TBR red tape as is Rudd and BoD. Money was secured in March. Dealing with a mountain of beauracracy. Memphis BoD can't work on capital projects until 2019 so it falls under TBR. Will announce timeline either tomorrow or by Tuesday latest and feels the new timeline will be adhered to.

Also mentioned season tix sales surging and blue lot parking is sold out.
