And for that 11 mile drive and 10 minute walk, if it's anything like the upper midwest which I imagine it is, the streets are plowed, the sidewalks are shoveled, school buses come and go, people drive to work, and kids walk to school.

Obviously, you've never experienced lake effect snow. Syracuse averages 12 feet of snow per year. The sidewalks aren't always shoveled. Nor all the steps. And the plows do what they can, but often it comes down faster than they can move it. I couldn't believe it when I first moved here. Memphis averages 3 inches of snow per year. We received seven inches of snow last night. That would shut down all of West Tennessee if not most of the state.

I went to undergrad in Ithaca and have been to dozens of Syracuse sporting events including basketball, football, lacrosse, and even women's hoops. Stop making it out like getting to a game in Syracuse in the snow is like trying to make it across town in Kabul.

Also, Syracuse rarely "packs" the house in hoops anymore. Sure, the crowds are huge but rarely is it ever technically sold out these days. The ACC hasn't been a hit like the old Big East.

Cuse fans/sympathizers are ridiculous.

You might get 12 feet total but I seriously doubt if much of that falls during September, October, and November, i.e., football season. And if roads and sidewalks aren't cleared for only 7 inches something is wrong.

Bigger struggle: retaking Raqqa from ISIS or SU fans making it from their car to their Dome for a game?

Thanks for ask the kind words fellers. I'm really hoping that we'll meet up in a bowl game in a month. CUSA has 9 (currently) bowl eligible teams, 10 if LT wins this weekend. What are y'all hearing about potential bowl destinations? I'm really hoping CUSA sends UAB to a bowl besides Birmingham. If they don't go their then there's a 90% chance we get sent to Bham...I've seen quite a few USM/Memphis projections. We'd probably bring about 15k. USM always travels well to Bham. I've also seen quite a few USM/Arizona State/Oregon in the Indy Bowl in Shreveport so who knows...here's to a USM/AAC bowl matchup!

I think the old time fan base would enjoy playing a series with USM.

We are 1-3 against Southern Miss and hated Jeff Bower. Here is an oldie memory.

I'll think of those poor SU fans and their plight the next time I'm sitting in Orlando during September in 95 degree heat with a squal line of storms just 10 miles away.

You've obviously never been to a warm Saturday afternoon game in the dome. The stifling suffocating heat during our 2001 game in that unairconditioned sweat box was more miserable than any hot afternoon game I've experienced at our stadium.

And obviously you haven't paid too much attention to some of these so called P5 games on tv, hell some of them wouldn't fill up a good high school stadium. Obviously you aren't aware of the Memphis weather predictions all week saying our game with SMU was going to amount to a total thunder storm situation with possible severe weather during the game, so no it didn't start raining till the start of the 4th quarter but attendance decisions were already made due to these predictions, especially those who bring their children to the games. When you say the Liberty Bowl is tarping off SECTIONS of the Liberty Bowl, that's where you further prove your ignorance. Hate to tell ya dude but SECTIONS aren't being tarped off, the only section that's tarped off is a small section of one end zone. And as far as the conference attendance you talk about being bad, that's a conference problem, I'm referring to Memphis only. Hell we out draw many P5 schools, but your blind slanted view of things is to only criticize. Maybe you should find you a team to pull for where their attendance is always top notch, try Notre Dame, that should make you happy. Like I said in another post, Tiger fan my @ss.

Yes, SU plays in a domed stadium. But it's still an 11 mile drive in that crap (something NO ONE in Memphis would ever do) and there's no parking anywhere near the dome. You have to walk at least a half mile uphill to get to the dome. In those same three feet of snow. No they don't sell out the dome for football because the team has been bad for years. But they pack it in the middle of winter for basketball. There's nothing like it anywhere else. All you've done is proven your ignorance.

Tarping off any section is admitting defeat. Memphis fans are lazy.

We get it, your love for SU and its fans has no bounds, so take it over to SU's board and leave us Memphis and AAC members out of your love affair with the mighty SU. You come on here like you're some great Tiger fan, but your disdain for our program and its fans proves otherwise, as shown thru your posts. So go show your unabashed love for all things SU to those who really give two sh!tz about SU and leave Memphis and the AAC out of any future posts.

No, I have disdain for lazy fans who use weather as an excuse. Weather never stopped me from attending a Tiger game.

Compared to attending games in Memphis, it is like Kabul. It rarely snows in Memphis and when it does, they act like it's Armageddon.

I will agree that the dome isn't as full for ACC games as former Big East games. The Orange fans get up for UNC and Duke, but after that don't seem to care much. They'd much rather play Georgetown, UConn, or Villanova.

As for football, the team averaged 32,102 in 2015 which was the worst in the 37 year history of the dome. That would beat a lot of the seasons the Tigers have had in the Liberty Bowl. The Carrier Dome holds 49K for football and 35K for basketball. For a tiny little town of only 145K, it's impressive how many people do attend games. Not to mention the fact that the stadium is badly in need of upgrades and there is no reasonable parking or tailgating anywhere near the stadium.

On a side note maybe we'll see each other in a bowl game in a month or so. I've seen a few projections showing USM playing Houston, Memphis, and USF though I'm sure y'all would prefer playing someone in a P5 conference (I don't blame y'all). Cheers!

Southern Miss basketball was fun to watch back when we were in CUSA. I remember our last-second win over you guys when we had AJ Rompza. Everyone was excited because we had beaten a strong opponent.
